1. So far I have noticed everyone seems to be a fan of the matching headstock
2. Myke

Which Thunderbird?

If you're willing to drill a hole in it, neck dive won't be a problem
3. Ah brilliant! I was just about to ask how you made them! That is very helpful thank you!
4. This is going to be fun
5. Is there a mid adjustment control on the inside? Looks very tasty and I'm liking the colour a lot
6. Oh.. Is this an older one then?
7. Don't they come with Barts?
8. That looks awesome! Was just checking this bass out on FB actually
9. I'm very interested in this as I plan to build one myself! So goodluck Oh did it happen to be Andyjr1515? He's been a real help to me with regards to designing mine
10.
The Tru-oil just wipes on, and is re-coatable in a couple of hours in this warm weather. I like to leave it overnight before sanding or buffing though. Despite the name, it's not really an oil finish, it's more of a polymerised oil based varnish.
Oh, thank you I haven't ever used it before
11. It's going to be nice!!
12. That's really nice How long does it take to put a coat on?
13.
If an ad says "Female bass player wanted for Grrrl band" do these same people stick up posts saying things like "I'll e-male you" or "I'm a bloke but what if I wear a bra to rehearsals"?
I'm almost positive that someone would say something like this
14.
The pre on my series 1 is fine, maybe just a tiny bit of hiss when treble is fully boosted, otherwise quiet. Pickups definitely don't hum when solo'd. Only thing which is a bit of an acquired taste with the series 1 pre is the three position mid switch rather than a sweepable mid. I tend to leave it in the mid boost position and use the pickup blend to adjust how it sits in the mix.
I love the tone of mine when it's more bridge pickup with a slight bass boost Completely OT though
15. No they don't. It hisses a little when the treble is boosted but that is all apart from the hum I mentioned before.
16.
Yes Myke, I would like to do that, it´s just that I don´t know how to edit it. If anybody has any idea.
MB1 sorted it for you No worries.
17.
Many thanks for the info & pointers to those who've replied. Once I have the original, I'll decide what I'm going to do. I'm not sure if I should revert, as I've read the original pre was a bit noisey. G.
Mine has a hum that is only heard when recording or going through a PA. Bit of a pain tbh.
18.
Perhaps you should edit the topic title so that it reflects the correct year of manufacture 1965?
+1
19. Oh. Unfortunately this isn't an area of expertise for me so I can't really help out. If you need photos I might be able to get some for you
20. Play faster
21. What's the issue you're having?
22. This is coming together quickly
23.
If you're doing that, you may find this site useful: www.largesound.com. Have a look at the user forum, there are several people there who like tinkering with short-scale builds with plastic strings.
I'll have a look, thank you very much
