1. I was once sacked from a band. Played two gigs with them after about 3 rehearsals and in that time I recorded 12 original songs for an E.P with them. I didn't play my best on the recording but I did the best I could in such a short time. I was informed at the same time as being sacked that I had also been taken off of the recordings aswell. They weren't that great and I was only doing it to get experience playing with other musicians and getting a few gigs in. Also this was done by text.
  2.
You've still got time to redo the drums if you want! I converted mine to midi. I've spent a lot of time on the drums, and it's not even done yet!
Hmm.. I don't know, I might try that approach, not sure.
Yes, I'm approaching this a simple mixing exercise rather than a full-blown editiing/reworking job. Are you mapping it to a click track? (Was it recorded to a click track?)
I haven't no. All I've done as of yet is added EQ, Compression, Reverb and done a simple level. I don't think it was. As there's a bit nearer the end where they go out of time and you hear the vocalist say so. May have to cut that bit out.
  3. Had a crack at this today. I have no idea what I'm going to do about the drums though.. May just leave as is.

    Ah
  5. My only tip is test on another piece of wood first
  6.
Actually they're Mandolin frets, and they're very small and give almost a fretless feel and require very little finger pressure to fret.
Ah, my mistake. Thank you for the correction
  7. I know Leland Sklar uses Banjo ones. I think they make his slides sound smoother? Not sure how that works but that's what I heard. Less resistance I assume?
Here's the first pic of the body (which obviously is not mine) for the bass I clearly didn't order - just incase Mrs ead has discovered this website
Or their facebook page Loving the grain on that
  9. I personally think you should make it as Utility as possible.
  10.
Been thinking about doing this myself. Can you still see the lines when you play? (Assuming your fingerboard is rosewood too that is. I fancy the unlined look but it would be handy to see a bit of line close up methinks)
Unfortunately I did it on a maple neck so I can't tell you for certain. I'd have thought you would be able to though
  11.
What are people filling the fret slots with when de-fretting? I smell a summer project coming on...

I used a load of maple veneer and superglue. Worked lovely.
+1 Works fantastic (except I used rosewood veneer)
  12. Has anyone actually read the blurb?
  13.
Looks interesting man but I have to admit I don't understand a word of it!
+1
  14. I glued mine on with a tiny amount of wood glue spread thin.
  15. Hello
  16. Hullo
  17. It would be rude not too
  18. Are you actually going to make this?
  19. Only just spotted this and I am jealous of that colour. Time apart makes the heart grow fonder and all that
  20. By naked do you mean unfinished or oiled/varnished? with no scratchplate?
  21. Woahh.. And I thought having 5 basses was a lot! Which ones do you play?
  22.
I play better on an unlined fretless than a lined one. Maybe its because the position markers on a fretless ARE the actual note. Dunno, but my vibrato is more accurate on a blank neck.
For me I think that I would be the complete opposite. I've never actually played an unlined fretless but I really doubt that I could get the intonation as good on an unlined as I can on a lined fretless.
  23.
They only made them for 1 year in 1997, so unfortunately not.
Oh whoops, my bad. Hope someone can help Edit. Just had a look, lovely looking bass, is it short scale?
