1. What happens if you have your strap the same sitting down as well as when you're standing up?!
2. I used to have my bass by my knees but as my bass lines became more technical it went slowly up. Now I have it just lower then it would be if I was sat down to play because then I can easily get above the 12th fret and play chords and such.
3. I found this thread really interesting because I have just bought a 5 string after years of saying 'Oh, I'm never going to get one, there's no point' but I was wrong. I just had to learn 'Master Blaster' and during the long run I had to jump from a G to a Bb on the D string to keep the riff getting higher but the day before the gig I got my 5 string and I could play the whole run in the same area on the bass! Also I learnt the music to a show once before and in one of the songs I had to play a low D which I couldn't do on my 4 string. Adjusting to the string spacing takes a little while but you get used to it. Myke
4. That last joke made me chuckle! And i know you won't see it after the pickups have gone in but the wood from the neck looks lush in the cavities! It's going to look lovely!! (actually is already does!) Myke
5. Woah.. Calm down..
6. Just bought a Yamaha TRB5 off of Daz. Quick replies, prompt delivery, polite and helpful and I was very impressed with how it was wrapped. Bass was in described condition and he was even kind enough to supply new strings with it. It was a pleasure to deal with him and I would happily do it again. Cheers Daz Mike
7. Looking good!
8. I also was thought this saying was about the clarity of the notes. I remember when I went to see Motley Crue and I came away slightly dissappointed because all I heard was a mush of bass and no real notes. And yes I know, Motley isn't always about the playing but more the stage show but Nikki Sixx does do some nice things which I couldn't hear.

Theatre Show Maybe?
To be fair, the opposite can be true. I've done lots of shows where i've had the pad weeks in advance. Pro and Am Dram. I'm going on Tour in April with a pro show and i'm getting the pad next week!
The last one I 'did' I had the pad before the rehearsals but if I have to do it on the day, I wouldn't be able to and I don't want that to be the case and then to let them down. And may I be cheeky and ask which show it is? If you don't want to say, it's no problem! Good luck with it!
10.
Cheers Myke. Not an experience I'd want to go through again, but as someone one said 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger'. Or something.
Just want to clear this up so there is no misunderstanding, I laughed at the way it was written and not what actually happened.. If you understand that..
11. I love the orange!

Theatre Show Maybe?

I did not know that, with regards to the score, so I don't think I'm at that standard yet, so may just leave it for now then. I am getting lessons and trying to make contacts in my local area. Thank you for all of your help guys, it's really opened my eyes. Hopefully this is something I will get a chance to do in the future. Cheers

Theatre Show Maybe?

He's not. He's given the email address to me so I can do it. I can to a certain extend yes but as this is in late summer/autumn I think I will have improved even more and don't you get given the bass part like a week before? That was what happened last time.
14.
Only ever did it once. Here's the story: http://bigplansforev...r-1-bolton.html
I just read that and laughed the whole way through!

16. Hey all, I have been given an email address for a MD who may be able to give me the bass part, in the pit, for a Grease show they are putting on in my local theatre. I have been instructed to to write a covering letter but I don't really know what to put it in? I have almost done a theatre show before, I was given the music and learnt it but it was cancelled a week before the show as it was people on my degree course playing for the musical theatre group also at my uni and some of the other musicians dropped out so they had to cancel it. This is the only experience I have had in this area. If someone could help me with what to say it would be most appreciated! Thank you! Myke

BBC Radio 1

I like that song!! Congratulations!
21.
That's a shame. But yeah, it really does depend on the ply. It is a shame that people will often automatically cover it up without taking its aesthetics into consideration. Mind you, if you claim that it's made up of several sheets of really rare wood, illegally logged from right under a nursing Orang Utan, you can add a couple of zeros to the end of the sale price.
Hahah Sounds likes a plan!!
22.
That ply actually looks quite nice like that. I have made a few bits and bobs, like photo frames and stuff, out of ply, and left natural, because I think it looks quite pretty. Obviously it depends on the ply. The trouble is, even though yours looks nice, there is a stigma attached to guitars made from it, it would be a brave thing to not paint it.
I had thought of doing that but unfortunately where I have sanded it, it's become quite in consistant and kind of made it a bit patchy so I'm going to paint it. I do quite like the purpley bit on the side though.
