From what I remember this is incorrect. A lot of people from my college studied at LCM and the entry requirements were simply based on passing a basic audition (which one of my friends did quite badly with, messed up the sightreading and failed the grade 5 standard theory test but still "passed" the audition) and then once the audition was passed, prospective students simply had to get 3 Cs at A-Level (or BTEC - Merit, Merit, Merit) to be allowed onto the course. Pretty easy requirements to meet in my opinion.
is that the popular music course?
No offense I hope but that means literally jack about someone as a musician, literally nothing at all.
you dont find many naff grade 8ers
-
LCM dont accept anyone under a grade 8 standard. now in my opinion thats quite a high standard of playing. it is also a conservitoir which are EXTREAMLY hard to get into. it isnt one of the most repatable music institutes in the country for nothing. . .
Ok - cannot see an answer to this on doing a forum search - and I'd be very interested in the views of others. I have a 14 year old son who plays a Yamaha RBX 170, but is ready to move on. Playing a mix of stuff, and needs a bass with a wide tonal range, relatively narrow finger board, yet is active and slappable. Probable get quite a lot more s/h I guess. He has a brilliant PRS SE 6 string guitar - and I guess he might be looking for the equivalent in basses, a high quality instrument at the bottom end of the range of a great maker. And he doesn't need a 5 string, or a fretless (because he can borrow mine...!)
hey dude i have a mexican fender jazz here for £250 if your interested? plays brilliantly! pick up only! im looking at about £250 but im open to offers and swaps [ attachment=61090:Photo_0038.jpg]
Hey Sam, I personally have a big soft spot for the LX. Really powerful mids with a great range. It says you are in Lancashire, last time I was up that way (Morcambe to be precise) I saw a lovely green high gloss 5 string one in Promenade music. According to their site it's still in stock, might be worth going and checking one out, I always find there is quite a lot lost with your average youtube etc sound clips.
yea there awesome looking things. stuart zender seems to make them sound good anyway. theres only a couple of chaps iv seen on youtube with one of these but there playing to a backing track which kind of drowns it out a little bit. so i cant really make out the true tone of it. but yeh ill try get there and check it out
I've had this for about 4/5 years and it has been a loyal soldier on the road but the time has come for us to part ways. She's in good nick with a few signs of ware and tear. Nothing major but she has travelled thousands of miles with me. Comes complete with fabric cover and footswitch. Had some problems listing the spec as they don't seem to be available from Trace any more. In full working order. I have a buddy at the Trace factory checking it over now so potential buyers can be confident that she is in full working order. As soon as i get her back i'll post pics. Guessing £450 would be a reasonable price but i'm open to offers. Like everyone else i'd prefer to not have to list on ebay so trying here first. let me know any thoughts
where are you based?
