1. I am away on holiday from today until 19th May. Whilst I'm away, the mobile number in the opening post will continue to be manned/womanned/personned, so anyone intersted is welcome to make contact.
 2.
Wow, not only is there a Beautiful South tribute band (which I find amazing), but I guess if your lot are the 'premier', there must be more than one! Please don't take that the wrong way, I just find the whole tribute band thing a different world, although the film in which the singer in the tribute act gets the gig for being a far better singer than the singer in the band they were tributing (new verb there), perhaps says something about it? Good luck finding a bassist Chris
No offence taken It's funny you should say that actually because the only "other" Beautiful South tribute band - which has actually been going for the best part of 7 years I think, is in a "state of flux" at the moment and rarely, if ever, does any live gigs, so I suppose that we're the ONLY regularly gigging TBS live tribute band. Believe it or not, there is also a duo who gig as a TBS tribute to backing tracks!! Premier is a lovely word though isn't it? The tribute circuit is indeed a different world. I've been involved in it for so long now that I do tend to forget that.
 3. Pre-weekend position optimization.
 4.
I have a Behringer 2 x 10" ontop of my Peavey combo. Would you say that I would be shockingly better off with a different extension cab?
Head straight for an Ashdown Mag 2x10 or 1x15 cab IMHO. Cheap as chips, built like tanks and correspondingly heavy, but should do the trick admirably.
 5. Boss CEB-3. But then, I am a Luddite.
 6. For further information, "The Beautiful Sound" link at the foot of my signature, will take you to the band's MySpace page where you will find clips, photos, a Gig List and some reviews of/comments on previous shows.
 7.
It's the only way to ensure they stay put. Unless anyone can enlighten me otherwise?
Absolutely not - that's why I thought it was such a good idea.
 8. Mid week bumperama.
 9.
As I'm hanging around waiting to go to a gig I thought I would post up my gig board. Enjoy.
Good to see some judicious cable tie use there.
 10. Post Bank Holiday bumpage.
 11.
OK Neil, just wanted to clarify. I was told last night that nothing was going to happen until early June. I've given Jill a call in the meantime.
Understood. No, the wheels are in motion as we speak.
 12.
Or NOT so urgently required as the case may be !
The general feeling, having discussed it last night at the gig, is that the band want to fill the position a.s.a.p. so urgently is indeed the word I think.
 13. Bank Holiday bumpster. Please also seperate thread under "Bassists Wanted and Available".
 14. Bassist urgently required for the UK's premier Beautiful South tribute band The Beautiful Sound. Please see "The Beautiful Sound Gig Schedule" thread in the Gigs Forum for details of forthcoming appearances. Based North Notts (J28 M1). For further discussion, call: Jill Bettison : 07812 609023
 15. Volvo 960 CD Auto Estate: A bit like driving to gigs in your lounge.
 16.
I never like to use pedals usually.... But doing shows i have had to provide from time to time, An Octave pedal.. And quite often a Chorus pedal. I think some times WTF do they want that for.. But then in context they can usually work. So my feeling is always be prepared... Garry
That is my take on the situation exactly.
 17. Any of the Ashdown Superfly cabs.
 18.
No witch hunt here, there just seem to be inconsistencies in the original post. However, in the light of the mods telling us to rap up about it, I shall tactfully acquiesce. Peace out.
Me too.
 19.
Not trying to pick on you, but your thread title is a bit misleading and doesn't say "reissue" anywhere, or anything like that. I was expecting a coveted vintage beast full of mojo. Not that I have the cash floating around to buy one mind....
Me too/neither!!
 20. "And about the overheating thing. I just switch it off between sets and it cools down fine. It only overheats because it doesnt have a built in fan". Me too. Absolutely spot on Sir!!
 21.
Surely an infinitely manageable amp would actually carry itself to gigs..? [/pedant]
THAT is my next planned upgrade.
 22.
Happy with my MAG300 2x10T combo. Then again, I tend to play with a sound that I call "no teeth" - i.e. not bright or attacking at all, so this might not be the sort of sound the OP was looking for. (I wasn't gigging last night by the way!). A mate of mine is borrowing it at the weekend so maybe I can get an independent evaluation from him. Anyway, for me it suits me fine, but doesn't do my back much good when lifting it in and out of the car!
That is precisely the reason I eventually went the Superfly route. Infinitely more manageable.
 23. My Ashdown journey, over more years than I care to remember, has been: ABM > Mag > Superfly. Never had an issue with any of the gear and it has always suited me perfectly. I'm now using a Superfly head with Superfly 2x8 and 1x15 and I've never been happier. Vive la difference I suppose.
