2.
Ok here it is, I bought this from Magnolia 1 week ago but I want to sell it to help fund an original 66 Jazz. It has an alder body and US Vintage Pickups. Here you can hear a recording that I made with it. The price is around 500 quid, but I am also open to offers.
The link to the sound clip does not work.
 3.
Ha. I'm more of a lurker, don't post too often, I find the back-patting intelligensia very tiring. I use it to keep up with news and so forth. My handle was "Jaco" probably not a good name to have here!
Mike I do exactly what you mean. I don't post anything like as often as I used to, but I too do my fair share of lurking to keep abreast of all things Steely. I've recently reformed my Dan tribute band and we did our first gig with the new line-up last Sunday at a venue called The Musician in Leicester. We had a great night but I must say that it's easy to forget just how challenging the music is. See you in the blue maybe.
 4.
Gulp!! Do I need my lawyer?
Come on Mike - don't keep us in suspense.
 5. You have yet another PM.
 6.
Hmm, Bassicinstinct...from Nottingham...of Bluebook Fame??
Gulp!! Do I need my lawyer?
 7.
All PM's replied to
You have another.
 8.
Would prefer cash on collection really, I need the dosh for another purchase. Sorry to be a pain in the Rse
PMd :-)
 9. Would you accept PayPal?
I apologise that my first post is in the For Sale section, however I was a regular in the old bassworld forum with the same user name. Some of you from the old forum may remember a certain Oly White Jap Jazz that was eventually bought by a guy called Rush Rule. I ended up buying it from him, but to be honest I have probably played it twice in the last year, it deserves better. Now I am a lazy so and so, and I can't be bothered with sending it through the post. I am in Ashford, Kent so if anyone is local to me and fancies a very playable 80's jazz (complete with a few dings) PM me. Due to the fact that I need it to be picked up I am open to offers in the region of £300. It will come with a padded gig bag. I've attached a word file that has some pics taken when it was sold to me. Condition has not changed since then PM me if interested. Cheers Graham
The string lengths are now: G: 43.5" D: 44.5" A: 44.5" E: 40.5" Guage is: 045, .065, .085, .105 I trimmed and fitted them and, after playing them for 10 minutes, decided they weren't "my thang". £10.00 incl P&P. Payment via PayPal. If any Basschatters are interested, please contact me via PM. Regards Neil bassicinstinct
 11.
+100000 on that. I can never work out why anyone would want to actually buy straplocks when this method is, as far as I can see and in my own experience, foolproof. The only downside is that you have to drink Grolsch - unless you know a barman.
Forgot to mention that one Mr David Gilmour can clearly be seen employing "the Grolsch method" on the Live8 concert footage. Can we view that as "tacit endorsement"?
 12.
If you can manage to drink a couple of fliptop bottles of Grolsch you'll find a pair of straplocks that fit your existing strap buttons attached to the stoppers. That's all I use on my basses after an unfortuanate incident where a schaller one unscrewed itself causing a bass to hit the floor.
+100000 on that. 15.
Hi, I'm just sorting out Matinee Idol and as I'm not familiar with the Yellowjackets work as a whole I wondered if anyone out there in Basschat land could recommend a CD. It doesn't have to have Matinee Idol on it I'd just like to get a good flavour of their music. Geejay
Mint Jam is a live Yellowjackets recording and absolutely marvellous IMHO. Enjoy!!
 16.
i love all black bases, specially the headstock being painted, dont like basses with a really long horn cause i like to sling my bass low. probably using it for rock stuff over anything else. about £200-250 pounds any idea?
Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tokai-Hard-Puncher-P...1QQcmdZViewItem Would that suit your purposes?
 17.
I play in 2 bands and the Corporate one is now increasingly being asked for PAT Testing Certificates and Public Liability Insurance. Anyone else having the same issues? The Pub Band don't seem to have the same problem, (but as all my gear has been PAT tested it isn't a problem anyway). Would it be an idea for a pinned topic with a list of testers in areas around UK as I have a feeling it WILL end up being mandatory at some point? We had a hell of a job finding someone to our gear as most companies deal with large institutions and not a 5 piece band.
Almost every theatre gig I've done has involved a contract specifying PAT testing but, as you say, pubs don't seem to bother (yet?). The going rate seems to be £3.00 - £3.50 per item. Leastways, that's what we've ended up paying. LOL I agree that most people you approach are not really geared up to be PAT testing gear for a 5 piece band and that this should indeed be a pinned topic. Same comments apply to the Public Liability Insurance issue too.
 18. Whigfield (of Saturday Night "fame" LOL). Very bizarrely, the venue was Rock City in Nottingham in 1994. She turned up with two "dancers" and mimed for 10 minutes and my band (The Commandments) followed her and played for a couple of hours. Weird or what? Incidentally, the audience that night was just short of 3500 in a venue which was licensed for up to 1750. Rock and roll eh? LOL
 19. You're very welcome. I agree that it certainly represents excellent value for money. Good luck with it.
 20.
Hi, I'm just about to put a new pedal board together and had intended to get an ebs multicomp but I've just come across the BBE opto stomp. I've read some rave reviews and some saying it's too subtle and it's noisy. If anyone has one I'd appreciate your comments Thanks John
I've been using mine only for about 6 months and I'd gree that it is, indeed, subtle which, in my book at least, is a recommendation. I have experieced no noise whatsoever from my rig as a result of uisng it and I've had nothing but positive comments from House Sound Engineers. I tend to have my Volume set at about 11.00 - 12.00 o'clock and my Compression at about 10 o'clock and it really tightens and evens thing up. I leave it on all the time and wouldn't want to be without it. FWIW, my signal chain is: Active Bass > BossTU2 > BBE OptoStomp > SansAmp BDDI > Amp.
 21. Awesome!! Thank you SO muc for posting that - never seen it before.
