1. I never ever ever play a gig without a mistake. It's my unique selling point I used to play in a band with a guitarist who would glare at me everytime he thought I'd made a mistake (and this included playing a minor third rather than the root note he was expecting) ... He didn't last long ...
 2.
No, but she's gonna get one if she mentions bloody holidays again for the next six months
Aw Such a sweet couple
 3.
Dear OG, please don't fret - I'm not the violent type Tinman (and yourself and anyone else who may have encouraged him to spend money) are henceforth forgiven as Tinman is taking me away for a week Christmas in a 4* hotel overlooking the Nile in Luxor (paid for mostly by my feverish collecting of Tesco clubcard points but we still needed to add a bit plus I've been mithering him nonstop for three days - and he didn't bat an eyelid, bless him  ) All is well in the Tinnie household
no black eye then?
It cost £250 - though would have been much less if I hadn't wanted the high gloss finish. No plans to upgrade the EQ...............................................for the mo!! I am going to send the neck off to Sims for side LEDs though , probably fairly soon. I spoke to them and can keep the cost down by doing the final wiring myself , doesn't seem too difficult.
Yeah Lights are so cooool and really useful too ..
 5.
- Just as well I never mentioned my Behringer head & ancient Peavey 1x15 then! J.
Ha ha I love Peavey 1x15's specially the BW's .. Nowt wrong with them .. I'm too posh for behringer though
 6.
Write right handed, eat right handed, play bass right handed, play drums left handed, play golf left handed, bat (cricket) left handed, bowl (cricket) right handed, kick with both feet. Am I right or am I left??
You are just a crazy mixed up kid.
 7.
I can't put into words how glad I am that I don't share that viewpoint. My band recently played a couple of gigs in Northern Ireland, as guests of a local band. Their bassist has a lovely Warwick Corvette 6er which probably cost more than all of my no-name oriental cheapos put together. I'm delighted to say he was drooling over the tone I got from my £60 JapCrap CSL jazz copy - and now has me looking out for one for him! And anyway, let's face it - Joe Punter couldn't tell an Ace Pro from a Fodera! J.
Yup You lucky man I've had that experience before too - almost .. guy at the jam I go to now and then has a Marlin P bass, aincient strings, one knob missing, through a HH head and a Vox cab. Total retail value about 50 quid. Sounds great. It's kinda depressing sometimes
 8. Play jazz now and then so I guess I masturbate with both hands... and large brass implement
 9.
I've been to the Bristol SC twice with a guitarist friend (he was looking for a Schecter). I thought it was really good, the first time I went there the selection was massive, and the prices pretty cheap, the guys in there were pretty cool as well, I just asked to play some stuff and he left me to it. The second time I went was pretty much the same, perhaps a slightly smaller selection. This time I played on 4 'Wicks and the guy didn't seem to mind that I wanted to try the different models. I hope to go there sometime soon now I've got a fair wad of cash.
It's true that some people have an Ok experience visiting SC but it is a bit hit and miss. If you are in Bristol there's a plethora of music shops to go to so shop around. Maybe you can buy the same thinkg in an independant shop and help it keep trading...
 10.
Thomann's mail order customer service is pretty sh*t hot - that wouldn't be as bad as it sounds!
Yeah I meant it would be a positive thing. Thomann seem to have got it sussed.
 11.
there is a nationwide staff training program , and music academys in some of the stores. dosent help my attitude tho doug
Oh well... I'll just wait 'till Thomann take them over then ...
 12.
And a lot of the time what you're paying for is the prestige of a brand name.
Well yes.. and playing a Name bass transfers that prestige to the person wearing it. You pay your extra dollar for the benefits these things bring. These no name basses may easily as good as a name bass, the savings being in the costs of manufacture, but there's so much more to the "value" of a bass than the way it looks, plays and sounds.
 13. Well I'm still arguing with the Post Office and that's 4.5 months since the bass was killed in their care. Maybe if everyone kept their fingers crossed and send good full moon vibes and nice thoughts at Post Office Customer Services department it may get sorted out ... OG
 14.
Recently a mate of mine spent an unproductive hour down the bar trying to convince anyone who'd listen that he detests all hip hop and rap music. "What all of it?" "Yep." "Even that overwhelmingly enormous part of the genre to which you have yet to be exposed?" "Huh?" " I mean you hate music you haven't even heard yet?" "Yep" "But that's impossible" "Nope, if it's hip hop I hate it" Needless to say more knowledgeable people than myself cleverly spent the rest of the evening dropping artists who fit comfortably into the hip hop genre into the conversation ,most of whom he professed a liking for.
'Tis the ol' "boxes" problem. Things have to be in neat categories for some people ..
 15.
Do they take part in any weekend warrior stuff I bet thats a great money spinner with all them 40's50's year old retired muso's, I've always seen them at the indie Music shops never SC.
Weekend Warrior is a Sound Control initiative .. Us old people have loadsa money but we also have wisdom - and the Interwebnet - so some maybe up to pay OTT SC prices and put up with poor service but I imagine most shop elsewhere Having said that if the WW programme gets older people out playing after a break for kids abnd careers and stuff then all power to it.

 17.
My Aunt hates jazz. I call her the Northern Nazi.
What? All of it? I bet she likes Let there be love by Nat king Cole or The Shape of Things To Come by Ornette Coleman or Knda Blue by Miles Davis or Wonderful World by Sachmo' or Jumpin' jive by Joe Jackson or Louis Joran or the Koln Concert by Keith Jarret
 18.
Am I the only one who hates Motown music?
How can you hate a whole lable's output? That's like saying I hate Jazz
 19.
Some nice songs in there. We do Nutbush City Limits as well. It's a cracking song. I'd never heard it before until I had to learn it. There's a couple of others in the list that are also in our set (Hard to Handle roxors), but there's a fair few I've never heard of. I grew up in a musical vaccum so I've been filling in the gaps over the last couple of years. I've not heard of most of the songs you've got listed so I'll have to track them down and have a listen. Thanks again for the list.
Wow have you got a fine few months ahead of you... I'd love to re-live the excitement of hearing the Stax and Atlantic soul catalogues for the first time ...
 20.
We had a sax player with us for this gig which kinda influenced the songs chosen.
Hey Ever play my way? We played a wedding reception on Saturday. At the end we put cheese CD's through our PA for 45 minutes - without the Smashy and Nicey inane prattle between, just music.. On the way out our caller/singer/melodeon player/joint front man heard someone ask who he was as he carried some gear out "oh he's the DJ" someone said .. hummmmm 3 hours of live music and the only thing they'll remember is Dancing Queen on the CD ...
 21.
One of my regular music stores in Christchurch, New Zealand has done exactly this for exactly those reasons.
Maybe we should call Sound Control's bosses and offer some consultancy
 22. Generally speaking I think that Soundcontrol could do a very simple thing and turn their business around. The vast majority of moans about them are not about prices, stock, getting stuff or anything like that. Their problems are almost all about staff attitude. A national staff training programme and a better hiring process and the whole thing would be changed beyond measure.
 23.
anyone heard anything about them? they seem to have a very good spec for the price take this 6 string: http://www.themusicking.co.uk/proddetail.p...t=16&nav=12 what ya reckon?
There's only one way to find out ... get one, try it and let us know

I'm chuffed to bits, trouble is I've now got to wait a couple of weeks to hear them in all their glory I'd hide if I was you mate, she has a list of culprits lined up for that one and I think that you maybe somewhere near the top of it! Yeah, probably and that may have been one step too far Hopefully the pickguard will be with me sometime this week. I'll post pics when it's arrived and fitted. Cheers guys Pete
Dear Mrs Tinman, I think you are a truly wonderful person and a fine upstanding member of this community. Yours in admiration, Old(trembling, hiding in the cupboard under the stairs)Git PS He'll be selling all his non-shukers when the DreamBass arrives so he can buy you something nice then ....
