1. Ours was the Penarth Music Festival in South Wales, it was fantastic everything went to plan and we got the crowd up and moving and asking for more, cant ask for better than that!
2. A lot of the price comes with the name, its a bit like cars, for instance Skodas are made in a VW factory so you get the same build quality but because of the name the Skoda will be cheaper. Iv played a few Tanglewood and Hudson basses and both seem great to me although with the Hudson you can get models in different wood types and stuff but its mostly cosmetic differences.
3. What up guys im Ben, I used to use this forum a lot but as of late (past year and a bit) I dont think iv been on once! Shocking I know im not proud either. Anyway things are back on track and I hope to get the old activity going again! Looking forward to speaking to some cool people. Peace out.
4. I know how you feel bassman as I feel the same way about my BB414 and also about my RBX374. I dont think it will matter how many "better" basses I will buy I dont think I will be able to let go of either of those.
5. I also use Status Hot Wire half-rounds which I use on my TRB-5 and they are great, they sound smooth and punchy like flat wounds when I need them too but when I turn up the treble they have a great attack and twang to them like a round wound. For a 4 string set they are £16.99, 5 string set is £21.50 and a 6 string set are £23.50. Defiantly worth a try.
6.
There was a second hand Yamaha TRB1005 in the classifieds recently for about £400. Brilliant basses.
Great shout for TRBs. I have a Yamaha TRB 5 II 10 years old in perfect condition, intact the guy used it so little in that time the original strings were almost new! I got it for £350 sh, absolute bargin and one of the best instruments iv played. Friend of mine has a 5 string peavey which he has had for years, another top quality bass which he picked up for around the £300 mark, sounds great too he uses it for all his gigs.
7. Anything made by Ibanez or Yamaha are always going to be a good option to start with. You can pickup a great condition Yamaha BB414 for under the £200 mark. They are great basses, I use mine all the time as my "go to" bass. Best thing with Yamaha or Ibanez is they are really great quality items for a great price and built like tanks. Sound wise they are easily good enough through beginner onwards. True workhorses.
8. Really nice and modern great job!
9. Bought the Hartke Kickback 12 combo from Moos3h, great guy to deal with and fast with his responses. Pleasure doing business with him and would do it again any time!
10. Iv been waiting for a Cardiff bass bash for ages im in!
11. If I had the money I would happily spend £2600 on a Yamaha Super BB or Yamaha Attitude 3 ...if only
12.
Cheers for all the suggestions guys! I had a look into all of them, and then it turned out my friend was selling his Yamaha BB415, so he's got that for a tidy £200, leaving him with £100 to spend on a nice cable and strap It's all black, nice and classy looking, so it should fit in with most styles he wants to play. Pretty much perfect condition. Very nicely set-up. The main thing is the neck's really great to play and the action's nice and low with no buzzing, so he should be able get around the board easily enough with his smaller hands. Also the P/J combo covers a good deal of tonal ground and sounds pretty good. The construction's solid, being Yamaha, so it should last him too. Strung with DR Fatbeams too, which is a nice bonus! Mission success?
+1 for Yamaha Never go wrong with a Yammy. I have a BB414, I have it fitted with flatwounds and its always been my go to bass. Great tone phat sound, he wont be disappointed
13. I have a 374 they are great basses! £50 is a bargin to be honest. Tone wise its extremely versatile, its very light but shoots out noise like a mother! You wont go wrong for buying it.
14. I wear all mine medium its just the most comfortable playing position for me and plus its a good hight to rest my arm on when im not playing.

16. Morning Bump
17. Here I have my White Horse BP150 Bass Amp. Its a great 150 watt bass for someone on a tight budget, pretty versatile and bone shatteringly loud. 7 Band EQ will let you control your sound to no end with bright and boost buttons to give it an extra kick if needed. More info here: http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/...r-Amplifier/8J5 Its in perfect condition not a scratch on it only been used for home use and one or two practice sessions. Brand new they are £179.99 so im looking to sell for £100 or any near offers. I will consider trades as I am looking for a practice amp (something worth around the 25 - 35 watt mark.) I live in the Cardiff area if anyone would like to try it out feel free. I will also post it at buyers expense. So yea make me some offers! 18.
You can have my Marshal stack for £200 if you want to come and pick it up MB4210 with MBC 1 x 15 extention cab. 450 watts of pure loudness!
Sounds like a bargin! But sadly i am lacking transport so i will not be able to pick it up
19. Wow thats alot better than I thought im gona have to check out ebay and the market! Thanks for the tip.
20. Im on a strict budget of £250 for a decent amp but not sure where to start or what to look for. Im looking for something that will stand up against the drums/guitars ect in a practice room but also be able to be used in small gigs (pubs/clubs the usual venues). Any suggestions? Thanks.
21. Right iv narrowed down my choice to either some Helicore Hybrids or a set of Innovation. I mainly play piz but I also want a string that can be bowed when needed. Anyone had any experiences with either of these sets of strings?
22.
Although not exactly the shape you are looking for, the Yamaha BB414 (or 415) would meet all your other criterea. G.
+1 Covers a broad range looks great and is built like a tank.
23. Im really very jealous of anyone who owns on of these basses! I love Yamaha basses and I am a big fan of Billy Sheehan too. Let us know what its like when you have had a chance to give it some nuts! I better start saving up if i want one of these one day
