Ibook G4 1ghz 640mb ram

Got an old Ibook G4 1ghz 640mb. 60gb hard drive. It works but does have some quirks, and has had a few crashes. I've re-installed the OS but i can't guarantee anything, so its for spares or repair. Has a small crack in the corner. doesn't affect the computer and the power supply was trodden on, but a bit of electrical tape cured it. Due to its age the battery is useless. Good spare computer, or to run Itunes Spotify etc from a central Hub. £60 ONO Delivered mainland UK

Double Bass Bow (French)

Chris, as far as i understand the point this came about through a lot of bass players having their bass refused for the plane. And i think that the size and weight of the bass in the hardcase is such that it cannot be turned away on size/weight grounds. Or at least it makes things a lot easier. In terms or portability this guy is doing some cool things. http://www.jauray.com/index.php?page=accueil&lang=en and also making some beautiful basses

Hey keith, I've played a couple of them, they are very consistent, great basses. The ones i played i think had a set up done on them, but it all sounded great. They lack a bit of bottom end acoustically, but amp it and there are no worries. I've seen Dave Holland and Larry Grenadier playing them with great results also. I think if you need a very portable instrument they are awesome. I've been contemplating one for a while. Hope this helps you, and hope you and yours are well, maybe see you soon Ben

Personally i'd avoid any kind of markings. There are too many variables, such as the angle of the bass to you (it being such a large instrument) and also a double bass, (i pressume this is true for EUB) is not intonated at the bridge, which allows for the notes to be in exactly the same place at each position. There will be tiny discrepancies between strings, not massive but still important. If you do use anything, go for the pencil as others have said, because you don't want to rely on it forever. Ive had students come when they are already totally reliant on the markers, and unable to stop using them. I'd also suggest getting the simandle bass method. It explains a very good system for finger placement. (there are many other methods, but i believe it works bet IMO) If you can get a teacher, even if its just to get you started, just a couple of lessons.

Up for sale is this Shuker Fretless. Its one of his older basses. But still in great condition. Nice Birdseye Neck, i think it looks like wenge body, but not sure. Wood pickup cover. The only non original part is the bridge which was changed before i got it. The preamp is interesting, its a series of mid's, this is what Mr Shuker told me about it "a dual mid circuit, if thats the case there should be two mid boost / cut controls and two mid freq controls." Great bass, but built myself a fret less p, and need to get some space back here. Got it for a song, so im just looking to get what i paid, but go ahead make me an offer Im based in North London, so if any one wants to come try it out, i do good coffee:) Will include a set of d'dadarrio rounds and a set of flats, but dont know what brand they are. and if picking up can include a tribal planet case, the hard/soft one. But will probably cost a bit to ship it in that case. But if you want, we can work something out. Sorry for the bad pictures, i'll put some better ones up tomorrow, but for now, to have an idea. So thats it, a Fretless Shuker £300 shipped in the UK Thanks Ben if you prefer to contact me directly.

sorry, good point. i meant i've never heard a bass sound Bad with a realist.
-
I've been using the realist for 4 years now. Got one on my cello too. If installed correctly it sounds fantastic, and i've never had any feedback issues even on big stages. i've used the fishman, which as stated is useless if you ever want to bow, not bad otherwise but i found it to inhibit the vibration of the bridge a bit. i had an underwood for a while which was quite nice, but mine was a bit unreliable. The other thing to remeber is that a pickup will react differently to different basses. so a realist on one bass will be very different to a realist on another bass. That being said, i've never heard a bass sound bass with a realist on. Good luck
I turned down my last foreign job offer to Tahiti for exactly that reason, sounds exotic... not with a 7 foot 52 kilo hard case it's not, airlines are just making it impossible these days.
So so true, and if you look at the costs of a great, light hardcase cropping up at £2800, then the czech ease, seems like an even better buy.

[OT] Car recommendations for URB transport ?
benbastin replied to BigBeatNut's topic in EUB and Double Bass
A double bass should fit in any hatchback, the smallest i've had mine in was a fiat cinquneto thing. IF going for a hatch i'd go for one with spliting back seats then you'll be able to take 3 people and the bass and amp etc. I've also had some good luck with saloon cars, but you have to roll the passenger seat all the way back then the bass sits there with the neck going backwards, not ideal, but works. -
No I haven't. I don't think there are many in the UK. A few top pros look to be using them from info obtained on the website. Just looks like a great idea all 'round.
These are great instruments, i've played a couple now and really enjoy them. I know that thwaites in watford can get them. I think that your talking about £3500 maybe £4000 for the bass gigbag pickup and hardcase. If you travel abroad alot its well worth it. I believe the size and weight of it the airlines cannot refuse it, and it wont cost alot in excess baggage. Alot of people are using for this exact reason as its harder and harder to travel with the double. I saw larry granadier use one with bill frisell recently and sounded amazing. The only thing i found was unamplified the bass lost a little of the lowend. But as most peoples gigs i guess are amped, no worries there.
This is a fabulous bit of kit, long discontinued. basically it generates one or two harmonies of virtually any interval, controlled by MIDI, front panel switches, or if you use a digitech footswitch (fs300 i think) you can rig it so your bass notes control it (during non-playing moments obviously) I'll get some pictures up soon..... looking for £50 +shipping (it is fairly heavy), but collection is welcome. No box or manual (I have one printed out which I downloaded) you can view the pdf manual here - click on bass products.
im very interested in this. Could you give me and idea of shipping to london. many thanks
