Working Mens clubs where they are forced to play the Birdy song on constant repeat by patrons drinking cheap bear and eating cheese and onion sandwich's from tin foil .All this under the watchful eye of the flat capped concert secretary who's chair you sit in under a sentence of death if you dare to have the nerve. Our bass's shudder with fright as it may be resting on its stand just where the bingo machine could later be appearing to be worshiped by the congregation of the for mentioned establishment. Not wishing to denigrate these places of merriment as this is where the fat stringed little buggers cut there teeth, but the thought of ending there days in the place that time forgot brings tears to my eye's for so many reasons. Mostly because these were great place's to be many years ago but there demise through many reasons is not the place I would like the last ring of the string of my collection of bass's to be heard unless they brought genuine pleasure to the audience. In which case that would be ok.

SOLD Ashdown ABM IV-410H CAB FS/FT £150
WAYNESWORLD replied to WAYNESWORLD's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
The cab you heard was Tom's mate. This one all though the same is not the cab you heard me playing. The reason I had it as a long service gift was because of the cab I used and you heard. Sods law I then pack in as the band had to fold.A tad overkill for bedroom practice me thinks which is why it is now for sale but thanks for the kind words Paul. -

How many BassChatters does It take to change a lightbulb?
WAYNESWORLD replied to edwn's topic in General Discussion
Thousands that wouldn't dare change it because of the danger of a GAS explosion -
Appreciate all the input folks. I know that bart now do a direct up grade with options Single, humbucker, etc but as Woodinblack says £300 -400 .This is not my greatest concern as I love the bass and it was a present for a special birthday,so it will never be going anywhere. Plus I do have other bass's. The thing is will the new barts @ £300-400 plus give me what I am looking for. As I have great confidence in the East pre and they have advantage of a variable mid sweep. I think that the pre amp may always be something I might change in the future. But under advisement from your good selves I think I will have a play around with some pickups before committing.I have a friend previously mentioned who I know has some pups that will not fit correctly in the pup recess (jazz blades) but could give me an Idea of possibilities with or without changing the preamp and tone variations of the pups. If anybody is interested I can get back to let you know how I got on. Thanks for your help Cheers guys

Forgot to say my bass has the BH1 not the newer Bh2 which are a bit more standard size. Cheers

Thanks for that Al Krow. I know that Bart now do a H65 direct replacement for the odd shaped pups on my bass. Unfortunately the Nords are not a direct replacement so would need to check string spacing as the fan fret have angled pups .I know this is a stretch but any of the Ibby fanboys have put Bart singularity pups in there beloved SR's I would love to here there view. I have looked at the Nords and was thinking of having a word with a luthier mate of mine (Dougie Wilkes) to make some custom pup covers to compliment the overall aesthetics and give me more options on pup choice.

Hi folks Anybody have any knowledge about the pre amps in and Ibanez srf805 fanfret .My experience is that the bass plays like a dream but feels like its been held back by the pre amp. I know the Bart pups are made under license and not that bright with quite a low output but the eq feels very polite unless pushed to the extreme which then just gets nasty.I have considered replacing the pre amp with a East uni. I have had several east configuration's in various basses and always been impressed, which I know sort of answers my own following question. Replace Pups or pre amp. Both is probably the goal but I would appreciate any input. Thanks

How many of us are playing the same gear today that we were told was the best set up they ever had by the bands we played with in the past. I obviously must know better because I am the one playing the rig... yes?. or I am I just so deep into the GAS addiction I am beyond help?. I have another pursuit where I have made a conscious effort to just enjoying the time indulged within it, and trust me this could soak more money than music equipment GAS could ever do, but I have found I can ignore the GAS syndrome and enjoy this indulgence for what it is .One thing that helped me with GAS control is having gear bought me by the wife and son on special occasions with the quote "and you know you will never be able to sell, trade, this because its special now" this of course doesn't apply gifts received from other sources even though it should.I think I am now fortunately getting a grip on GAS and learning to appreciate what I have a lot more. There said it I am reformed, no more GAS I bet your all so jealous ...........but if any body has for sale.....oh crap.
