I went to the North West Guitar Show yesterday and met up with the lovely Chris Dobson of Alpher Basses and Guitars.What a wonderful guy and I managed to blag a play on a couple of his works of art. The quality of them totally blew me away and I'm know suffering from the worst GAS I have ever experienced in my life. If you haven't checked them out, do yourself a favour and do so immediately. edit. Why I'm I upside down?

As the title says, I went to see the Status Quo tribute band I co-founded in 1995. I was the original bass player and was with them for 6 years. I left due to moving from Chelmsford to Cheshire and was replaced with John Bower, a lurker on here. He's a musical director and plays with The Real Thing, The Carpenter's Story and was Boney M's MD. I just want to give him credit for taking the band from a bunch of mates having a good time to a really professional band. He was playing a Status Charger, the Rhino Edwards bass through a Markbass rig and it sounded wonderful. I had a great night meeting up with old and new friends. Thing is, John has given me really bad gas for a Status now. What a sound.

Just watch this. Brilliant and Rick was funny as feck as usual.

I recently bought a Fender Precision Special Deluxe from our resident gear tart Karlfer. It's the first bass I've had nearly 50 years that have flats fitted. I love them. I'm also in love with the P body and Jazz neck. I have another Precision with rounds and it now feels and sounds wrong. I think I've finally seen the light.
