2. Good man, enjoy yourself.
3. Coming together nicely Sean, can't be long now 'till it's finished.
4. There is so many tracks that have been posted that fit the OP's post that have made me change my mind. This might be due to a bad memory but then again I get the " I loved that track but forgot about it." I really wish we had a like button so I could like others choices. It would give interesting stats. I voted against against the like button when we had the choice but maybe it would be time to review it. I know it would give the mods a nightmare though. What do you think?
5. I was 14 when this came out and it blew me away. It still gives me goosebumps when I hear it.
6.
Not to derail the thread or anything but... Phwoar! Shwing! Hubba, hubba, etc
This. +1. Pass the Kleenex.
7.
PM'd
Thanks.
8. I like green. Nice bass at a good price.
9.
I added a J to my VM Squier P bass last year. I had always played jazzes but a few years ago got serious unexplained GAS for a Precision, so I plumped for the Squier. Once I had replaced the rather rubbish Duncan Designed pickup (very low output from the G string) with a Tonerider, I really enjoyed that classic low end you get from a p-bass. But not long after that I realised I was missing that "bite" you get from a jazz pickup at the bridge, so I got a local tech to route a hole for one, but 5mm closer to the bridge than on a standard jazz bass and added a Tonerider jazz pickup. This, combined with a custom stack-knob wiring kit from KiOgon has given me the best of both worlds - I can have that thunder from the P pup, plus the crack of lightning from the J pup, all at once or on their own or however I want it really.
I'm late to the party as usual. I want to do this to my MIM P. Could you PM me the details and the costs. Nice to hear that I can put some work KiOgon's way and have the kit I want.
10.
I should do a proper comparison at some point but weight wise, the Coronado is 9lb 10oz, the Chowny is 7lb 8oz. Chowny is 22 frets vs 21 on the Fender but feels a smaller guitar, maybe because of the weight and the headstock size. Fender has a bolt on neck and the Chowny's is set. The Chowny has a floating bridge and there's less adjustment possible than on the Fender but I can get it to exactly how I want it so it's not an issue. In terms of control, there's a wider range of sounds possible from the Chowny and the volume controls are wired independently unlike the Fender which is wired like a Les Paul.
Thanks for that. My just kicked in my GAS for a Chowny. Git.
11. That looks fantastic, got any sound files?
12. Seven pages of debate just because Kim Kardashian's big arse was on stage at Glastonbury.
13.
My two honeyburst 2012 American Specials. Two piece alder bodies, 8.5lbs, serial numbers eight apart. The fretless conversion was done by Brook Guitars in Devon. I have no other electric basses. These two nail it for me
That is a stunning pair.
14.
I outsell Hyenas , have sex with Airfix models, crash Scalextric cars and drink bottles of Pomagene worth $1each. Do I qualify?
15. I liked Pete Townsend's quip about the biggest rock star.
16.
It could be worse, it could have been Kanye West's bassist - a backing track !!!
I've heard that version 3.5 ain't too bad but it crashes now and then.
17.
As it has been since Pino joined. This is the first time I've actually been able to hear a bass presence of note. True to form though, he's just buggered the My Generation bass solo completely. I've got nothing against Pino, but I still maintain he was a completely inappropriate choice for the job.
Unfortunately. There will never be another OX. We have to make do.
18. I'm watching it at the moment and through my sound bar and sub,he's sound good. Needs to be a bit more up in the mix though. I saw a link a couple of months ago that he had a thunderbird pickup fitted to his bass. I can't remember if it was at the Gallery or Bass direct.,
19. Just watching The Who at Glastonbury, outstanding. Much better than Kim Kardashian's big arse of a husband.
20.
Chris was a living legend and is now an immortal.
This.
21.
I'm rather a plodding duffer of a player; certainly no maestro nor virtuoso. I'm also principally a muppet, so what would I know..?
This describes me to a tee.
22. Gutted. I knew he was ill but didn't expect this.
23. Great blog Bluejay, gutted I had to pull out. Looks like a great day.
24. This was my '71 Maplegro fretless. It was my main bass until '76 Unfortunately, the photo is a polaroid taken in 1975 so it is a bit crap.
25. Pictures please. You're right about mid-range basses though. I have a MIM Fender Precision that I picked up on here for £400 with an upgraded pick up. I can't find fault with the finish and feel. I wish I could have had instruments as good at the equivalent price point when I started out in the '60's. Cheap basses were just that for the most, cheap and nasty.
