1. That looks fantastic, got any sound files?
2. Seven pages of debate just because Kim Kardashian's big arse was on stage at Glastonbury.
3.
My two honeyburst 2012 American Specials. Two piece alder bodies, 8.5lbs, serial numbers eight apart. The fretless conversion was done by Brook Guitars in Devon. I have no other electric basses. These two nail it for me
That is a stunning pair.
4.
I outsell Hyenas , have sex with Airfix models, crash Scalextric cars and drink bottles of Pomagene worth $1each. Do I qualify?
5. I liked Pete Townsend's quip about the biggest rock star.
6.
It could be worse, it could have been Kanye West's bassist - a backing track !!!
I've heard that version 3.5 ain't too bad but it crashes now and then.
7.
As it has been since Pino joined. This is the first time I've actually been able to hear a bass presence of note. True to form though, he's just buggered the My Generation bass solo completely. I've got nothing against Pino, but I still maintain he was a completely inappropriate choice for the job.
Unfortunately. There will never be another OX. We have to make do.
8. I'm watching it at the moment and through my sound bar and sub,he's sound good. Needs to be a bit more up in the mix though. I saw a link a couple of months ago that he had a thunderbird pickup fitted to his bass. I can't remember if it was at the Gallery or Bass direct.,
9. Just watching The Who at Glastonbury, outstanding. Much better than Kim Kardashian's big arse of a husband.
10.
Chris was a living legend and is now an immortal.
This.
11.
I'm rather a plodding duffer of a player; certainly no maestro nor virtuoso. I'm also principally a muppet, so what would I know..?
This describes me to a tee.
12. Gutted. I knew he was ill but didn't expect this.
13. Great blog Bluejay, gutted I had to pull out. Looks like a great day.
14. This was my '71 Maplegro fretless. It was my main bass until '76 Unfortunately, the photo is a polaroid taken in 1975 so it is a bit crap.
15. Pictures please. You're right about mid-range basses though. I have a MIM Fender Precision that I picked up on here for £400 with an upgraded pick up. I can't find fault with the finish and feel. I wish I could have had instruments as good at the equivalent price point when I started out in the '60's. Cheap basses were just that for the most, cheap and nasty.
16. My long deceased grandmother was a piano teacher and we had a similar piano at home. I had lessons from the age 8 to 12 and got to Grade 6 or 7, can't remember ATM. Anyhoo, the old piano used to be tuned every year by a blind guy. He was crap at hanging curtains. It seems that, back in the 60's, maybe before, they were the best tuners around due to their heightened hearing abilities. When I was about 14 or 15, the piano was beyond tuning due to it's age and it was full of woodworm, so we filled it with petrol and set light to it on Guy Fawkes night. It wrote a Stockhausen piece as it burned. Enjoy your freebee.
17.
Question: is a 'no it all' in constant denial..? Hmm...
Sorry, It should have been know it all. I forgot about the basschat spelcheck polise. I'm surry.
18.
This isn't the saddest thread, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264096-the-old-maplerosewood-topic-but-with-results-from-the-herts-bass-bash/ this is.
Really. This Is a topic that comes up a lot on here when people want to know which bass to buy. What contributes to the sound in their head. Your sneering remakes make you sound like a narrow minded no it all.
19. Glad to see you all had a great time and thanks to you all for the kind words about my Mum. I'm looking forward to Bluejay's blog and the photos. Basschat really does rock.
20. I'm going to have to withdraw. I'm at my brother's place in Newark visiting my old mum, she has dementia now and is going down fast. She has done well up to now at 91 but I feel I should spend some time with her. She has gone down quickly since my wedding in March and my brother has not been keeping me updated on her health. I hope youal have a great day.
21. A tone block is a build up of wax in the ears or the results of old age.
22. That neck is stunning James, I like what you've done with this bass. As Louis Walsh would say," You've really nail it and made it your own". BTW, Great Tat.
23.
I unwrapped mine... Had a quick acoustic plunk - pics and NBD thread later
I don't like sunburst P basses with Tort pick guards but this this looks and sounds fantastic. I can't stop looking at this. F.U. GAS.
