1. Ace. Great singer and a nice groove.
2. Me too.
3. My long deceased grandmother was a piano teacher and we had a similar piano at home. I had lessons from the age 8 to 12 and got to Grade 6 or 7, can't remember ATM. Anyhoo, the old piano used to be tuned every year by a blind guy. He was crap at hanging curtains. It seems that, back in the 60's, maybe before, they were the best tuners around due to their heightened hearing abilities. When I was about 14 or 15, the piano was beyond tuning due to it's age and it was full of woodworm, so we filled it with petrol and set light to it on Guy Fawkes night. It wrote a Stockhausen piece as it burned. Enjoy your freebee.
4.
Question: is a 'no it all' in constant denial..? Hmm...
Sorry, It should have been know it all. I forgot about the basschat spelcheck polise. I'm surry.
5.
This isn't the saddest thread, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264096-the-old-maplerosewood-topic-but-with-results-from-the-herts-bass-bash/ this is.
Really. This Is a topic that comes up a lot on here when people want to know which bass to buy. What contributes to the sound in their head. Your sneering remakes make you sound like a narrow minded no it all.
6. Glad to see you all had a great time and thanks to you all for the kind words about my Mum. I'm looking forward to Bluejay's blog and the photos. Basschat really does rock.
7. I'm going to have to withdraw. I'm at my brother's place in Newark visiting my old mum, she has dementia now and is going down fast. She has done well up to now at 91 but I feel I should spend some time with her. She has gone down quickly since my wedding in March and my brother has not been keeping me updated on her health. I hope youal have a great day.
8. A tone block is a build up of wax in the ears or the results of old age.
9. That neck is stunning James, I like what you've done with this bass. As Louis Walsh would say," You've really nail it and made it your own". BTW, Great Tat.
10.
I unwrapped mine... Had a quick acoustic plunk - pics and NBD thread later
I don't like sunburst P basses with Tort pick guards but this this looks and sounds fantastic. I can't stop looking at this. F.U. GAS.
11. Looks like I can make it. I'll be in Nottinghamshire on Saturday and can drive down on Sunday. I can bring a MIM P, A Bass Collection Nanyo SB310, Zoom B3 and a Line6 LB400 2x10 if needed. Just let me know what to bring.
12.
There is a rather tasty Gibbo Thunderbird 5 on sale here at the moment!
I don't do 5 stringers, I'm a simple soul and I get lost. Anyway, it's been sold.
13.
Cheers, folks! I'm totally into it. Here's a run around the different pickup combos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEsZm13z0YI
That's a nice range of tones you have there and at just over 7 lbs, it's a winner. Nice playing too Michael. Good score.
14. If you want to be accurate, you need a 4 stringer. Rodger Waters never played a 5. You also have a choice. He used a Rickenbacker 4001 in the early days.
15. I really want a Rick 4003 and a Gibson Thunderbird. I saw Martin Turner playing Wishbone Ash numbers last month and his Thunderbird sounded glorious. He used to play Ricks on the early albums. I'm also a big fan of Chris Squire so I love Ricks. I had a fretless 4001 the '70's, I need another in my life.
16. I have one with a Seymour Duncan SP1 fitted. It's lovely to play and I can't fault it.
17.
My friend married a Chinese girl a few years ago. There were lots of jokes about the choice of music, Wok this way by Aerosmith for example
Just as well they didn't play Turning Japanese.
18. Thanks for the vids, I've not seen the one with Gary Moore before. Excellent. I've been a fan of Jack Bruce since the Cream days, he was such a talent.
19. D.I.V.O.R.C.E. by Dolly Parton.
20. So soon? I was only joking when I said GLWTS on the NBD thread. But GLWTS anyway, it's a beauty.
21. Very cool looking bass. Lovely story too,
22. I bought some strap locks from Dave. As usual, everything was smooth and fast. Dave's a great guy to deal with.
23. I'm guessing number 4 is going to get a lot of votes.
24. That's a beauty Gary, GLWTS.
25. Last week I was sent this scanned Polaroid photo from 1975 of me and my fretless Rick.It was my main bass for a couple of years and I love get it back. I used it in a Wishbone Ash tribute band before tribute bands become popular. The skinny girl with the grey hair was my bird at the time.
