1. Looks like I can make it. I'll be in Nottinghamshire on Saturday and can drive down on Sunday. I can bring a MIM P, A Bass Collection Nanyo SB310, Zoom B3 and a Line6 LB400 2x10 if needed. Just let me know what to bring.
2.
There is a rather tasty Gibbo Thunderbird 5 on sale here at the moment!
I don't do 5 stringers, I'm a simple soul and I get lost. Anyway, it's been sold.
3.
Cheers, folks! I'm totally into it. Here's a run around the different pickup combos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEsZm13z0YI
That's a nice range of tones you have there and at just over 7 lbs, it's a winner. Nice playing too Michael. Good score.
4. If you want to be accurate, you need a 4 stringer. Rodger Waters never played a 5. You also have a choice. He used a Rickenbacker 4001 in the early days.
5. I really want a Rick 4003 and a Gibson Thunderbird. I saw Martin Turner playing Wishbone Ash numbers last month and his Thunderbird sounded glorious. He used to play Ricks on the early albums. I'm also a big fan of Chris Squire so I love Ricks. I had a fretless 4001 the '70's, I need another in my life.
6. I have one with a Seymour Duncan SP1 fitted. It's lovely to play and I can't fault it.
7.
My friend married a Chinese girl a few years ago. There were lots of jokes about the choice of music, Wok this way by Aerosmith for example
Just as well they didn't play Turning Japanese.
8. Thanks for the vids, I've not seen the one with Gary Moore before. Excellent. I've been a fan of Jack Bruce since the Cream days, he was such a talent.
9. So soon? I was only joking when I said GLWTS on the NBD thread. But GLWTS anyway, it's a beauty.
10. Very cool looking bass. Lovely story too,
11. I bought some strap locks from Dave. As usual, everything was smooth and fast. Dave's a great guy to deal with.
12. I'm guessing number 4 is going to get a lot of votes.
13. That's a beauty Gary, GLWTS.
14. Last week I was sent this scanned Polaroid photo from 1975 of me and my fretless Rick.It was my main bass for a couple of years and I love get it back. I used it in a Wishbone Ash tribute band before tribute bands become popular. The skinny girl with the grey hair was my bird at the time.
15. R.I.P. BB King and thanks for the music.
16. Not wanting to p*ss on the bonfire but wouldn't the different pickups and preamps on each bass make more of a difference? The basses would all need to be the same model with the same pickups but with rosewood or maple necks to be an accurate test.
17. True Lozz but I'm going to have to try every combination. I think my head will explode.
18. I'm now the proud owner of a Line 6 LB400 bought today off the forum. I'm not going to be able to fire it up in anger until Tuesday. I've downloaded the manual and I'm looking forward to getting to know it. I also have a Zoom B3 and now I'm wondering if I'm going to be in tech heaven or hell. I've always been a plug in and play guy so I'm now getting a bit worried I'm going to get totally overloaded by the tones I can create Any thoughts?
19. Just bought Shaun's Line 6 LB400. Great condition, like new. Easy transaction and a nice guy. Highly recommend him.
20.
cheers Sam
I was a mate of Bill Legend back then and he liked you too.
21.
certainly was Scooby
I've seen you live as well in the late '90's somewhere in West London. Great gig and cracking band as I remember.
22.
https://instagram.com/p/2GrmjluQYx/ Magic
Now that was worth the wait. Glad it arrived safely.
23. I've been in two. First one was Wishbone Ash tribute in the mid '70's before it become really popular to be a tribute band. The second in the '90's was a Quo tribute, Piledriver, later change to Counterfeit Quo. They are still going and getting some huge gigs. We played with John Coghlan as Coghlan's Quo a number of times doing theater gigs.
