1. Wow, that's a great price for a custom built bass. Once my wedding is out the way, I'll have to look into one of these.
2.
I saw EW&F in the 70s and it was one of the best live shows i've ever seen complete with levitating bass players (Verdine White) and the finale where all of the band get into a massive triangular thing and are hoisted into the air then it all falls apart and hey presto! there's no one in it.
I was there too. Wembley if I remember right. Fabulous gig, one of the best I've ever been to.
3. Ah, Dad, I'm with you there. I saw them a few times in the early '70's and was lucky enough to get to meet them back stage at the Greens Playhouse in Glasgow. Rodger Chapman was a real gent and introduced me and my mate to the band and took time to answer all our teenage questions. The next time I saw them, John Wetton was on bass and he was amazing. Again , we got back stage and I managed to shake John's hand before the bouncers chucked me out. As we stood outside in the alley by the stage door, on their way out, Chapman and Wetton stopped to say sorry about the manhandling and signed our programmes. That mean a lot to a star struck teen fan. Happy days.
4. I was solely a pick player until I got RA and found that I couldn't hold one so well. I found it easy to change to fingers only and now the RA more under control, I still find fingers easier to play with. I still use a pick now and again when I need that tone though.
5. Don't mean a thing. I'll be watching for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
6.
This thread just seems to be another list of numbers people don't like. IMO the only "worst" bass lines are the ones that are badly played.
This. If you don't like the number, why are you playing it. If it bores you, try to put your stamp on it. If you can't, chuck it out.
7.
I suppose its more of a titanium lining really, lol
Mine's bigger then yours. Careful when you go through airport security, the buggers set them off as I found out when I when to Prague.
8. Blue, I don't know how you can do 4 hour gigs. I'd be f**ked after 2 hours before my health problems. More power to your elbow Sir. Respect.
9. Just checked out the website, these are good value for money as well as cool looking.
10. One thing that I did notice. No matter how much pain I was in, the GAS never went away.
11. Sorry to hear about your problems. I had to stop playing for 3 years due to RA and I thought my playing days were over. I had a metal bar placed in my right wrist last year, fusing the wrist so I can't move it up and down. I am now playing up to 40 minutes a day but I'm never going to be back to the standard I was before the RA. I'm just grateful to be able to play again in any capacity. I hope you can get your problems sorted out, good luck for the future.
12. Cracking looking bass. Love the pick guard shape.
13. Cream's Badge. School gig where the crowd were shouting " Band off, Disco on."
14. Some fine basses there Eric, good article too.
15. When I was in a covers band in the '70's, we occasionally did two 90 minute gigs in different venues. Lunch time in one venue, break down and travel to the next gig for 5pm. Out by 9.30am for the first and getting home about 2am. Some weeks we would play 9 gigs in 7 days while holding down full time jobs. I'm knocking on 60 now and I couldn't imagine doing that now.
16. My all black one is nice but this lot blow it out of the water looks wise. King Tut, your one is a beauty.
17. That looks great, as does the rest of the bass. Lovely.
18. King Tut. I was just about post the same question. Do you know what size allen key is needed to adjust the saddle heights? My bridge has the locking screws missing.
19. A quick look at Andy Baxter's website shows a decent '87 T-bird going for less than 1200 quid. Tell the seller to jog on.
20. Hi, I'm Sam and have taken to hiding basses at work so that STMBO doesn't know I've bought another. I also have an amp there so I can play when everyone else has gone home. I am worried what's going to happen when I retire and have to clear out the warehouse at work and bring everything home. It might mean moving to a bigger house.
21. Just checked this out on No Treble. Versatile but must weigh a ton. Would be great if I had 4 arms and 20 fingers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfvQmDhN9pU
22. Sad to hear that Bobby has passed away at the age of 70. Another great lost.
