1. Smoke plenty of weed and go with the flow. Worked for me.
2.
The best thing that came from breaking my wrist was taking up the eub then the DB, do it!
Stop it Pete, you've got me thinking. I started on DB as a teen, maybe I should try an EUB as an arthritic old git. Oh hell, I can feel the " there's a thought" building up. (Wonders off to for sale threads).
3.
I don't need one, I don't need one, I don't need one, I don't need one, I don't need one, I don't need one, I don't need one,I don't need one,
So then is it being delivered?
4.
I don't remember reading Gerry Mcavoy being considered (not mentioned in his book IIRC). However, Rory Gallagher was a contender to replace Mick Taylor, even jamming with the band for a few days. This is mentioned in Gerry's book. I'm glad he didn't, as a big Rory fan, I hate to think what we might have missed out on. Saying that, you never know if he did, he may still have been around, which would have been the greatest gift.
I'm glad Rory didn't sell out to join the Stones. He was too good for them. Thanks for the heads up on Jerry's book, I'll have to get that.
5. If this bass had come up for sale after my wedding, it would have been mine. Keep it safe for me. you've got to love a slag.
6. I've seen Pete Academy playing with Nearly Dan. Great player and a really nice guy. I wanted to nick his Roscoe though.
7. S2, double post.
8.
Hmmm might check those out. Got addresses?
Sorry, I didn't get the addresses. I just came across them while shopping with the OH.
9. Just a thought but Japan websites might be able to help. Basses can be imported to Thailand quickly. It might be worth looking at some of them.
10. I found a couple of guitar shops in Bangkok. They had the usual Fender and Gibson offerings and some Parker Fly basses. The prices were a lot better than here in the UK, VAT being only 7% and import duties much cheaper.
11. Wow, that's a great price for a custom built bass. Once my wedding is out the way, I'll have to look into one of these.
12.
I saw EW&F in the 70s and it was one of the best live shows i've ever seen complete with levitating bass players (Verdine White) and the finale where all of the band get into a massive triangular thing and are hoisted into the air then it all falls apart and hey presto! there's no one in it.
I was there too. Wembley if I remember right. Fabulous gig, one of the best I've ever been to.
13. Lovely. I want one.
14. Ah, Dad, I'm with you there. I saw them a few times in the early '70's and was lucky enough to get to meet them back stage at the Greens Playhouse in Glasgow. Rodger Chapman was a real gent and introduced me and my mate to the band and took time to answer all our teenage questions. The next time I saw them, John Wetton was on bass and he was amazing. Again , we got back stage and I managed to shake John's hand before the bouncers chucked me out. As we stood outside in the alley by the stage door, on their way out, Chapman and Wetton stopped to say sorry about the manhandling and signed our programmes. That mean a lot to a star struck teen fan. Happy days.
15. I was solely a pick player until I got RA and found that I couldn't hold one so well. I found it easy to change to fingers only and now the RA more under control, I still find fingers easier to play with. I still use a pick now and again when I need that tone though.
16. Don't mean a thing. I'll be watching for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
17.
This thread just seems to be another list of numbers people don't like. IMO the only "worst" bass lines are the ones that are badly played.
This. If you don't like the number, why are you playing it. If it bores you, try to put your stamp on it. If you can't, chuck it out.
18.
I suppose its more of a titanium lining really, lol
Mine's bigger then yours. Careful when you go through airport security, the buggers set them off as I found out when I when to Prague.
19. Blue, I don't know how you can do 4 hour gigs. I'd be f**ked after 2 hours before my health problems. More power to your elbow Sir. Respect.
20. Just checked out the website, these are good value for money as well as cool looking.
21. One thing that I did notice. No matter how much pain I was in, the GAS never went away.
22. Sorry to hear about your problems. I had to stop playing for 3 years due to RA and I thought my playing days were over. I had a metal bar placed in my right wrist last year, fusing the wrist so I can't move it up and down. I am now playing up to 40 minutes a day but I'm never going to be back to the standard I was before the RA. I'm just grateful to be able to play again in any capacity. I hope you can get your problems sorted out, good luck for the future.
23. Cracking looking bass. Love the pick guard shape.
24. Cream's Badge. School gig where the crowd were shouting " Band off, Disco on."
25. Gorgeous. Nurse, pass the tissues.
