1. I thought that this was going to be about Quasimodo. Oh well.
2.
Perhaps we should start a tribute topic . . . .
Aren't newspapers already doing this? Tribute news stories?
3. When I was gigging regularly, I loved the zing and clank of new strings. I would change the strings on my '75 P bass every 2 gigs back in the day. On my '57 RI, I would change the strings every 4 weeks. I must have mellowed.
4. I've played in 2 tribute bands, a Wishbone Ash clone in the '70's and a Status Quo one in the '90's. I've made friends with Martin Turner, all of the Quo and gigged with John Coghlan as part of Coghlan's Quo. With the Quo tribute band, I've played in front of 3000 people who dug it and I travelled with the band all over the UK and Ireland. Loved every minute of it.
5. I've just taken charge of this.
6. That looks great. A clear scratch plate will be the business. Congrats.
7. I've just received a SB310 from Phsycoandy off of here and it great. I'm going to have it setup to my liking and restring it. It's so light and the neck is nice and slim. Just the thing for my arthritic old fingers. Enjoy yours.
8. Great bloke. Held a SGC Nanyo310 for me until I got back from holiday and it arrived expertly packed earlier than I expected.
9. You could try dropping his mum Philomena an email. She is a mine of information and a lovely lady. She also has a facebook page I think.
10. I've met a few and they have all been great blokes. I mean, who on earth would lend a stranger a bass and trust you with it. Only a Basschatter. Thanks again Paul_5 and I hope you enjoyed the scotch I hid in your gig bag. I also met 2 on one night, Pete Academy and Lurksalot, well, it was a Nearly Dan gig. Great night and great company and will do it again when Lurks and I can get our diaries to match. Loads more Chatters I want to meet and put faces to the PM's we have shared. I fear liver damage though.
11.
Has anyone successfully put the kettle in the fridge yet? You know, you get up in the morning, make a cuppa & get the milk out the fridge whilst you wait on the kettle boiling. Pour the water in the cup & walk to the fridge to put the milk back. I haven't as yet, but I've looked at the fridge door a couple of times with kettle in hand.
No but I have tried to put the butter into the dish washer.
12. That's a great build diary and what a cool bass.
13.
Always on the look out for what is happening in the super light bass department. What is the make of bass you are due to take delivery of?. The one positive is that my shoulder issues really limit the GAS I experience regarding basses. Anything over 7 lb is of little interest
It's a Bass Collection SGC Nanyo SB310 which I am buying for Psycoandy for this forum. He's kindly holding it for me until I get back from holiday in Prague next week.
14. Another sufferer here. I have RA and Spondolosis in the 3rd 4th and 5th vertebrate. I gave up playing for a couple of years due to the RA causing damage to the bones in my right hand. I had surgery last year and had a metal bar inserted with means I have limited movement in the wrist. I used to b e a pick player but now use fingers. I am just about to take delivery of a new bass which weighs in at around 7lb so hopefully I be able to stand up and play again. Good luck with the op and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
15.
Well I would beg to differ. I am as sceptical as the next man about such things, but power cables can make a substantial and substantive difference to the sound of various kinds of audio equipment. You can argue at a theoretical level about the science all you like, but have any of you ever heard an A/B comparison for yourselves? Power cables, connecting cables and, perhaps more importantly, power supplies can make a profound difference to the overall complexion and quality of the sound. I know it's true because I have heard it with my own ears on more than one occasion. O.K , let the bloodbath begin . I'm back in the Secure Unit on Monday morning , so lets get on with it.
I miss you on Off Topic, I hope you get back there soon. You crack me up, in a nice way.
16.
Sorry, mate, but NO, it won't. This is a ToneCord. You'd need a TasteCord. Your coffee will sound better though.
It might do, it's a kettle lead after all.
17. The snake oil salesmen think we're really stupid. http://www.essential...-cord/index.htm If I use one on my kettle, will my coffee taste better?
18. That looks bloody gawrgus. Good score.
19. If I can capture the sound of me chucking up and pooping my pants after seeing that photo, I'm in. Yip, I'm sh*t scared of heights.
20. I loved the sound of the Smiths......until Morrissey started singing.
21. I think you did the right thing Pete, I know you would put the band first. I once broke three ribs a couple of hours before a gig, I fell badly down some stairs. I played sat on a stool, trying to find a comfy position to hold the bass and breath at the same time. The guys in the band carried my gear out for me, the only time they ever did and reminded me for years if thought I was slacking.
22. Good call on the p/g change. Just need to change the neck to maple to make it perfect.
23. That's a very nice looking bass. You're building a lovely family there.
24.
Well, I've gawn done it. Should be here Tuesday... Bit nervy as I'm going on the strength on the demo video alone but I can always return it if it's that bad. Review to follow!
I'm looking forward to your review. I might be in the market for amp shortly if the stars are in the right alignment and this is ticking a lot of boxes for me.
