1. Thanks guys. The museum is on the to do list.
2.
I like you Dad already.
I used to miss him but I'll take better aim if I get another chance.
3. A bit OT but my father invented the process to make semi skimmed milk. It was part of his job remit and he got played well, for the time, for doing his job. Does that mean that for every pint of semi skimmed milk that is sold worldwide today, his estate is worthy of a cut of the cost. He didn't thinks so and so never copyrighted his invention. Tw*t, I could have bought Skank's island and supply of cocaine and died like John Entwistle if he hadn't been so daft. Bugger.
4.
Whistlebinkies has music every night, but it depends what kind of thing you're into. Weeknights in there can be a bit hit and miss IMO. If you're just looking to wander in off the street and catch a gig though its probably your best bet. There are quite a few pubs that do the folk-music thing, some of them are really good (if you like folk music...).
I don't mind folk music if it's done well. I'm more into rock, blues, soul, infact anything but badly played.
5. Good luck guys. This should be interesting.
6.
This is a handy gig guide. http://www.gigguide....burghmonday.htm It won't show Feb gigs until 1st of feb but you'll get an idea of whats available. Mcnach plays in multiple bands in Edinburgh so you'll probably manage to catch him playing. Whistlebinkies is the best venue for really good quality bands.
Cheers for that. I'll check it out nearer the time.
7. No listings for Feb as yet.
8. Cheers Stu, I'l give it a google.
9. The OH is taking me the Edinburgh for a wee holiday for my birthday. I'll be there from Sunday 9th to Wednesday 12th, February. Has anyone got a gig in the city on these dates or if not, where's the best place to check out some bands in the city center. I've not been up there for nearly 40 years. If no one is gigging, I'll just have to go to the zoo and stab a panda so help save the wildlife.
10. I wondered when you were going to post it. Stunning.
11. Great track. A multi-national collaboration spawn by Basschat. Wow. I love the production. Good luck guys. I hope to hear more in the future.
12. I would love to try one out, they look like a lot of fun.
13.

14.
Oh no it bloody doesn't.
'king does.
15. I'll get my coat.
16. That sounds great and looks even better. I would love that P/J combo on a Jazz. Edit to say. I thought you were a Rick man.
17.
Recently tried Catswhicker as The Creamery was more expensive and didn't respond to my enquiries. Have to say though that this is in a baritone guitar so I can't vouch for the bass pick-ups, but I think for the price they're easier on the pocket to try, and they will be better than stock. I had a Tele neck pick-up and humbucker-sized Wide Range from him. Plus it's nice to support a fellow Brummie.
Thanks for your input. This is why I love Basschat, ask a question and you get great feedback. I have been working on this Legend branded p bass tonight and I'm happy with the setup now. I just need to take it to work where my old amp is stored to suss the pups out. I think they are going to be crap but who knows. Anyone heard of the Legend brand. It plays well now I've tweaked it and it's not a bad p bass. My niece will be happy with it as it was unplayable before.
18. I'm looking forward to this.
19. Good score and around 100 quid left to spend on beer after the strings and gig bag.
20. Cheers Chris, thanks for the reply. I'll check them out.
21. I get the title of this thread but it will attract negative comments from bass solo haters. Saying that, I don't think that is the best example of AJ's playing and I'm a fan of his. Oh, and just one more thing. IBTL.
22. I had a reply to a question I asked on Alpha's website. They used Wizards custom pups on their basses and now that Wizard are no more, I wanted to know who's pups they would use in the future. They replied ( Ta for that) that they are having their pups wound by Cats Whiskers in the future. I've not heard of these guys before. I've had a look at their website and they look good but has anyone on here got any experience of them. How do they compare to Wizard, Kent Armstrong and etc? I'm asking because I'm upgrading my niece's bass for her and wondered if they might be good replacements on her P bass.
23. You must post a price that your happy to accept. Dat's the rools.
24.
Yeah... this is pretty much my dream bass. Unfortunately, although it's not at all heavy, my back is being a PITA and is demanding something unusually light. Whoever buys this will have to deal with my jealous glare for the rest of time.
+1. What a beauty. Someone is going to get a stunning bass.
25. I enjoyed that. Good video too. I think this would be very marketable. Good luck with it.
