1.
I thought that's what all radio DJ's did ? followed by some scots dick who I think was suffering from dementia.
That would be Ken Bruce. I nearly split my whisky reading that. You're not wrong.
2.
You have to see, feel & play one in the flesh to really appreciate them.
I thought that was what beer goggles did.
3. Go for it. Don't regret it in the future thinking, what if. Life's to short. I can't think of any more cliches. Happy New band.
4.
Everyone should be made to play one of these at some point in their playing career - absolutely sublime experience
It would be like wearing beer goggles on a night out. It might be fun at the time but I couldn't look at it in the morning and hope it left in a taxi before I woke up.
5. I know how good a player you are Pete, having seen you live. The keyboard player in question is out of order to ask you busk original stuff that you have never heard before. The ego has landed. I would have nutted him in the dressing room after gig, therefore never having to play with him again.
6.
Its the best one for years. Lisa Stansfield, Rudimental, Ruby Turner, John Newman, Charlie Wilson lots of soul. Plus Mel C doing Stevie Wonder and Ray Davies doing some Kinks, the only bad things were the proclaimers and the lumineers.
+1 Except I like the Proclaimers. Miss Bassface is great though.
7. That black one ticks all my boxes. Unfortunately, the RA says no. GLWTS. Cracking basses.
8. Great tunes again this month, you guys have got real talent. Dad got my vote, his tune put a great big smile on my face. AL- the- Bassman, great track, it was a toss up between you and Dad.
9.
I know what you mean. I got a full driving licence in 1982 - the expiry date is 2034. At the time I thought, 'Ha, ha! That's never going to happen!'. And it hasn't of course... but it's seems a hell of a lot more likely now than it did then. But then I remember thinking that Prince's '1999' was set in the far future, too - back in 1982. Now it's ancient history. Young master discreet has no idea who Prince even is. Or was. The future is with us. Along with steel basses. And sinister military robot dogs with no heads or asses that can do stuff. It's true.
This would take One Man and His Dog to a new level.
10. Nice score. I hope that your missus is still talking to you. Then again, silence is golden.
11. Great band. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again.
12. There is a nice 1990 4 string MR1 on Bass Directs facebook page. Lovely. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Wal_MKI_Fretted_1990.html
13.
It's funny how we all differ but i thought this one of the most pointless threads on BC. It just seems like moaning for sake of it to me.
So every bass you've ever played has been flawless? You're a lucky guy. On my bass playing past, I've played some dogs and some greats. The greats were outstanding which made the dogs seem even worse. I think that I'm doing a service to the bass playing community if I tell them about the dogs.
14. Nice one, glad you enjoyed the gig. I'm just jealous as f**k. Never had the pleasure of seeing them live.
15. Deep Purple in Rock. The first live band I ever saw at the age of 14 and they blew me away. Just listened to it at work tonight and I still love it.
16. Deep Purple, In Rock. Thin Lizzy, Live and Dangerous. Black Sabbath Masters of Reality. Led Zep, PG and I'm another one who forgot Montrose. The best music from my plooky youth.
17. I hope that you're going to post some sound clips when it's all done. Please.
18. All this clicking has given me RSI. Good luck Paul, I hope it was worth it.
19.
There is something odd I was switching browsers an IP addresses to get the votes? oh well they all count regardless who did it
Agreed. I just went back and used the same browser and IP address and it let me have another vote. Something strange going on.
20. I got the 700th. Yeah. Just seen the post above, the totals don't match up. WFT? The counter showed I had 700 and 701. Are we losing votes because 2 of us clicked at the same time?
21. It looks lovely from behind but so did my ex-wife. Nothing that can't be put right there. ( the bass I mean).
22. Just shows that bass building and drugs don't make good bedfellows.
23. I got banned for growing one on the first day of November by the OH. She hates me with a 'tash and promised to donate if I didn't grow one. £50 going to a good cause.
