1. I'd just like to say to all involved that I have been following this from day one and what you have achieved so far is outstanding. I have lost 2 best mates and my Dad to cancer in the last year or two and you all have my total respect. Off to just giving now to make a donation. Basschat Rocks.
2. I'm not normally a fan of single cuts but that is 'kin lovely. Did you use it at the gig tonight and how was it?
3. Tug bars on P basses. A total waste of space. Rickenbackers. Manchester United.
4. Status headless basses and I don't slap.
5. F*ck me, that's heavier than a '70's p bass
6.
I'm loving the stuff from people saying things like this thread has been posted for x number of days and Jimmy hasn't bothered to reply so that means I'll never buy one of his basses. Meanwhile the thread was posted on a Friday and, I'm guessing like a lot of working folk, Jimmy won't even have seen it until today. This is on of the hardest working luthiers I've ever met and I know for a fact that he doesn't spend his days aimlessly poring over web forums because, you know, he's like, making basses for a living. . . Talkbass loves nothing more than a good slagging off session and, in recent times, it feels like BC is heading the same way
I think BC has a long way to go to be anywhere near as bad as Talkcrap but I know what you mean.
7. I have to agree with Molan, I can't believe that someone with AC's reputation would let this happen. I would love to hear his input to get it in perspective. It looks like a dog though.
8. I'm going to have to pull out. My old Mum has had a bad fall today and has broken her nose. I off to Lincoln to visit her. Have a great day guys.
9. Loved that band and
The solo at the start of "Handy". Love it, and often play around in the same vein (in private only), but never quite cracked it as such. Problem being that even if I did crack it when and where would you ever get the chance to use it?
This used to be my sound check number. Love it.
10. I first saw Genesis support Lindisfarne at the Green's Playhouse, Glasgow around 1971. Great gig. Both bands on top form. I think it was the Foxtrot tour but I may be wrong. PG was stunning. It took me a long time to get used to PC taking over but I don't think he did a bad job of it. I have met Mike Rutherford a couple of times and he is a really top bloke.
11.
If there was a 5-string of either of these I could be persuaded to actually buy a Fender bass!
I never thought I would ever see this statement. Pass the smelling salts.
12. Shep, are you bringing your Bareface Big Twin? I'd love to hear one of these.
13. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/212016-new-vintage-modified-squier-basses-fretless-pj-and-5-string-precisions/
14.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. And I can't understand demoing a five string without playing the B string much!
Maybe it's soo crap they are trying to hide the fact. I hope not as they look good.
15.
From what I understand Chandler's in Kew was owned and run by Doug & Charlie Chandler. Doug got divorced and left/lost the shop during that. Charlie then also left Chandler's in Kew with some of the tech's and set up Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience in Hampton Wick. Some of my friends & I have had work done in CCGX and can highly recommend them.
Thanks for that update, I didn't know this. I used to go to Kew when Charlie was in charge.
16.
There is another Chandlers in Hampton Wick, just over the Thames from Kingston. No criticism of that one, and no idea whether or how they are linked. Which one did you use Bassman Sam?
I always used the one in Kew, I didn't know there was another one. It's a shame if the Kew one has lost it's way, they were always a bit pricey but were totally worth the premium.
17. I'm sorry to hear this. I always used to use Chandlers when I lived down south and they were very good at making sure that everything they had on sale was well set up. Their on site techs were excellent and if I ever needed work done on a bass, they were my first choice. I would hate to think that their standards have slipped as they had a great reputation for quality and a high profile clientèle.
18. Nice one, glad it went well. Best take your own sarnies next time.
19. More bad news. The grim reaper has been busy with musicians lately. RIP JJ.
20. Tough choices again this month. Lowdown and Skol had strong entries again but Discreet pips it at the post for me. Well done all, I love hearing the offerings every month, keep up the good work.
21. This is turning out to be one hell of a bass bash. Ace.
