1.
If you can start playing again , I would expect choice of strings , setup and even scale length might be important in easing back into things . I would think that it would be very much a case of the less tension /resistance the better . The good news is that there are plenty of options on the market nowadays to fascilitate those kinds of choices .
Very true, I think a short scale bass might be in order if I can get back into the swing of things. I'll save that judgement for another day though, I'm just looking forward to a wee noddle at home for now.
2.
Good luck with getting back into playing , Sam . Once a bass player , always a bass player .I hope the operation has done the trick .
Cheers Dingus, the dreaded GAS never goes away either.
3. That looks like new Fran, sweet.
4.
Hey Sam Just put my Spector NS-94 on evilbay, but the auction finishes on Monday and if it doesn't reach the reserve / sell then you would be most welcome to borrow it. Feel free to PM me if it would be of any use.
Cheers for the offer Ead, I'm sorted now. I hope to be meeting Paul tonight to borrow his P bass. You've got to love this place, some great people on here.
5.
Damned..! That's all I have spare..! Are you sure..? I know of a lefty that's not getting played... Good luck with the trials; hope it works out.
A lefty might be an option, my right hand might get a rest, IYKWIM.
6.
Got a passive "Bitsa" P Bass that's got a pretty low action if you'd like? The neck is slimmer than a normal P too, so that should help.
PM'd. Thanks Paul.

8. You're not helping my GAS. I really like these. Good price on t'interweb too. Is there no downsides?
9. I'm on the scrounge. As some will know, I haven't been able to play for a while due to RA. I have had an op on my right wrist about 8 weeks ago and things are looking good. Today, I saw the surgeon and was given the all clear to return to work on Thursday. The op has left me with a metal bar around 5 inches long in my wrist and it gives me limited mobility of my right hand. I can't write or sign my signature anymore but I'm sure, with practice, that will come back. I just have to reprogramme my muscle memory. I'm pain free now and that is great. Here's the ask. Can anyone in the NW lend me a bass for a couple of weeks so I can see if I play again. I would love to get back into it but I don't want to spend my hard earned on a bass if it's going to be a waste of TIM and my OH would kill me for spending her shoe funds. I'm not looking for anything fancy, any 4 string bass would be welcome as long as it's not an AC. Cheers. Sam
10. I like that, love the shape and the colour. Good score.
11. I'd just like to say to all involved that I have been following this from day one and what you have achieved so far is outstanding. I have lost 2 best mates and my Dad to cancer in the last year or two and you all have my total respect. Off to just giving now to make a donation. Basschat Rocks.
12. Oh Baby.
13. I'm not normally a fan of single cuts but that is 'kin lovely. Did you use it at the gig tonight and how was it?
14. Are we there yet?
15. Tug bars on P basses. A total waste of space. Rickenbackers. Manchester United.
16. Status headless basses and I don't slap.
17. F*ck me, that's heavier than a '70's p bass
18.
I'm loving the stuff from people saying things like this thread has been posted for x number of days and Jimmy hasn't bothered to reply so that means I'll never buy one of his basses. Meanwhile the thread was posted on a Friday and, I'm guessing like a lot of working folk, Jimmy won't even have seen it until today. This is on of the hardest working luthiers I've ever met and I know for a fact that he doesn't spend his days aimlessly poring over web forums because, you know, he's like, making basses for a living. . . Talkbass loves nothing more than a good slagging off session and, in recent times, it feels like BC is heading the same way
I think BC has a long way to go to be anywhere near as bad as Talkcrap but I know what you mean.
19. I have to agree with Molan, I can't believe that someone with AC's reputation would let this happen. I would love to hear his input to get it in perspective. It looks like a dog though.
20. I'm going to have to pull out. My old Mum has had a bad fall today and has broken her nose. I off to Lincoln to visit her. Have a great day guys.
21. Loved that band and
The solo at the start of "Handy". Love it, and often play around in the same vein (in private only), but never quite cracked it as such. Problem being that even if I did crack it when and where would you ever get the chance to use it?
This used to be my sound check number. Love it.
22. I first saw Genesis support Lindisfarne at the Green's Playhouse, Glasgow around 1971. Great gig. Both bands on top form. I think it was the Foxtrot tour but I may be wrong. PG was stunning. It took me a long time to get used to PC taking over but I don't think he did a bad job of it. I have met Mike Rutherford a couple of times and he is a really top bloke.
23.
If there was a 5-string of either of these I could be persuaded to actually buy a Fender bass!
I never thought I would ever see this statement. Pass the smelling salts.
24. Shep, are you bringing your Bareface Big Twin? I'd love to hear one of these.
