I used to break E strings regularly and it was always Rotosounds. No trouble when I changed to Elites.

Glad to hear that you had a bit of good luck. Use the money to good use and better your situation. Any mods to your Fender is just the gas talking, ignore it, you don't need it.

Played for 43 years and sorry I had to give up due to RA, loved every minute of it. Just wish I could get rid of the GAS, that never goes away.

I opened a similar thread a few months ago and the overall opinion was, " get a Hohner." The Spirit was classed as a toy bass by some. I used to have a Washburn Status and that was ace, IMHO. They come up on here and Ebay from time to time but are fetching around £450 - £500 for a reasonable one.
