1. Having received the famous Tin Pan Ally customer service experience, it's great to find a Bass shop who delivers the opposite. Hope to visit next Monday. How far are you from Denham, the other half is on a course there and I'm the driver, I have 8 hours to kill and would love a look around. Sam
2. I suspect that you already know what needs to be done. Move on and find the right people for you but sometimes that can take time. Use this time to improve your playing and maintaining your gear. I've picked up some good habits since joining this site and the advice given is on the most part sound.
3.
lesson learnt the hard way.... sucks man. I once got off the train with all my stuff but left my prototype burns EUB (61!) on the train when i got off at clapham. I got it back...just. Everything crossed for you mate.
You'd think after the first time you would remember to check.
4. Richie Blckmore - if he didn't get too moody.
5.
I filter out all of the non starters before I start trying - there are body shapes, colours and manufacturers that I just won't entertain - I don't care if it's fantastic, I am not buying a bright pink bass shaped like a lightning bolt! I ignore the inevitable masturbatory slap demo and do my best to appear appreciative and interested. I set the amp flat and try out the tones available on the instrument - I'm not interested in buying the amp after all... Recently, with the addition of inbuilt effects and modelling, this has become harder to achieve so I've taken to insisting on a plain amp which doesn't always go down too well. I'll pay close attention to my LH - am I stretching to reach notes? If so is it a stretch that I can sustain over a period of time? Am I struggling to find the strings with my RH? Does the neck profile fit my hand nicely even at the 'dusty end'? I'll always insist on playing it standing up AND sitting down - does it feel comfortable or does it feel like I'm sat there with an Ikea coffee table in my lap? Does the bass stay put or do you have to hold it in place when you play standing up? Weight doesn't matter that much to me but I'll mention it here just to make a complete set because one day I will inevitably become weak and feeble...
I think you just about got it covered here but from someone who IS weak and feeble, weight definitely comes higher on my list.
6. TIM? OMG not again. Sorry you had to be there. Welcome.
7. I always wanted a Jass body and P bass neck, what is the sound like. Any noticeable difference from a "normal" Jass? By the way, a cracking collection.
8. My '57 RI for sale on this forum. By the way, how do you guys get great photos of our basses. Mine look crap in comparison. Just can't use a camera.
9.
It's junk, basically a piece of fishing line with nicks in it and an LED at one end. You stick it to the neck with clear tape. Fretfx is a useable product, I found fretlord to be more of a scam. It's so cheap many people will try it and few will complain. Well, I'll complain
I think that what their hoping for. No one likes to look like a dick.
10. Do your research if you don't know the history of your bass before you advertise it as being all original if you bought it second hand. People will publicly judge you as a dick if you don't.
11. I tried boiling strings once but even the bolognese sauce couldn't kill the taste. Them were hard days.
12. PM replied to. Will ship to EU countries at buyers expense.
13. Bump for price drop now £700, needs a good home, not hanging unplayed on the wall.
14.
Cr*p. Abrasive, tight, ill-defined, old technologies, redundant features, don't last, poor quality materials, poor quality control. Would love to be able to say a British manufacturer making a quality string, but this lot are not that. Because the strings are cheap, in relative terms, see people endlessly trying to justify to themselves that this lot make a quality product. But that's just bullsh*t.
Don't like them then?
15. Could I tempt you with a swap for my '57 USA P-bass that's FS on here with a cash balance TBA?
