5.
80s Thrash and Death metal. Cliff Burton made me play bass.
Ditto.

You think that sounds 80s? That's funny... the intention was to capture something more 70s sounding. Maybe you were on the mushrooms during that decade and missed out on it
 7. Nice noodling guys! I'm being lazy... but here's a quick excerpt from something I'm working on. It's a very simple bassline - I'm sort of going through a "less is more phase" with my playing. But it might just be that "less is less" Drum track and strings included for context. Jazz bass with rounds: https://soundcloud.com/skol-mixes/may-noodle I'll try to do a video next time.

 13. UPDATE: ...so I ended up coming 3rd out of 252 entrants and won $100. Which I think is about £2.47 in new money. Woot! I'm off to buy a yacht. A really tiny little yacht

 18. Nice! I haven't tried this myself but it's always good to hear about handy 'hacks' like this. Keep us posted.
 19.
...unfortunately I can't change the way I play bass. I even re recorded the bass and went easy on the strings.
If you want to reduce the 'click' of the bass, try:

Adding a Low Pass Filter (LPF) to the bass track and sweep it down through the frequency range, from high to low. You might find a point at which you can deaden the click without taking too much away from the bass tone itself.

If that doesn't work... use an parametric EQ - one that has a 'Q' setting. Start by adjusting the Q to around 6 or so; add a boost of say +6db and sweep the EQ frequency up and down until you hear the click sound getting louder. What you're trying to do here is work out roughly where the click sound is sitting in the frequency range. Play with the Q setting and level boost until the click sounds the loudest/ most irritating. Then apply a level cut at that frequency using relatively high Q setting (known as a 'notch'). This might allow you to reduce the level of the click without affecting too much of the frequencies around it.

Adding some mild distortion/ saturation can also help to disguise a clicky bass (this is also a good trick for helping a bass cut through a busy mix).

Don't sweat it! I didn't really focus on the click sound when I first had a listen. The trouble with learning to mix is that it can also somewhat ruin your enjoyment of casual listening... life is full of trade-offs
20.
My Cort Rithimic has the lowest, cleanest action I've ever played outside of my old Alembic Epic fretless.
I have a Cort Rithimic 5-string and it's by far one of (if not the) most playable basses I've ever owned. I only wish I'd discovered it sooner!
 21.
The issue with uploading playing a cover version in Soundcloud.com is that they may remove it?
They might do... as may YouTube, but the detection software thingy they use is fairly hit and miss. For an isolated bass part you should be fine (even more so if you make a complete mess of the cover version as I tend to!). Less so if you're playing along to the original.
 22. Cheers guys for kicking off the new Noodle Bar! Really nice contributions so far and I like the use of YouTube. I have a recent noodle to add myself and will upload it next chance I get.
Is there going to be a new noodle thread each month?
For the sake of simplicity, there’s going to be one continuous Noodle Bar thread (this one!), which anyone can contribute to as and when they choose. I’m going to give it a plug in the General Discussion forum once a month, just to encourage people to have a listen and hopefully get involved.
 23. I mostly enjoy it. But this article does a good job of summing it up... "Later with Jules Holland: a cockroach in the schedules" https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/apr/08/later-with-jools-holland-cockroach-schedules
 24.
Right on cue...
See, for me that's not clickbait. 'Clickbait', as I understand it, is about enticing people to click on stuff for the sake of generating advertising venue (from click-through fees). What you've pointed to here is a free tutorial, made available by Scott, which is actually useful. That's not clickbait. Sure, Scott runs a business and he'd love us all to be subscribers to his commercial service. And this video is designed as a taster for that. But it's not clickbait in the true sense of the word. It's just a snappily written video title. Better that than "Practice lick #142" or whatever the alternatives might be
