1. All good advice above. These (and other Federal products) are also a good choice for hasp/staple locks: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Federal-Hasp-Staple-Extra-Heavy-Duty-SS-FD4025-/322019787001?nav=SEARCH A little expensive, but worth every penny. Fit two: top and bottom of the door, with a sturdy key lock in between. They're obviously dependent on the durability of whatever you fit them to - so a solid wall and door is recommended. But once fitted, they're about as good as you'll get (I've seen them used on shopfronts and lock ups, so more than adequate for domestic use). Just bear in mind that if you reinforce the door, then any windows will become the target. Oh and PS: I don't work for Federal! Good luck getting it all sorted. Don't forget that they were already deterred, so any additional security is only going to deter them further - if they come back, which is no certainty.
 2. >>> NEWSFLASH <<< Ped and the Admin team have offered a Basschat polo shirt to the second place winner, regardless of whether it's a joint first place. It's Christmaaaaas! ...in fact it is currently snowing up here in Manchester.
 3. For the unobservant among us... See the original post for details of a special PRIZE GIVEAWAY this month
 4. Warwick Corvette (German-made). Fantastic bass and I loved the tone A very light, resonant and well put together instrument. But... the string spacing was just a touch too narrow for me at 16.5mm. I persevered with it for over a year, but ended up part-exing for something with wider spacing, which I'm now very comfy with. I still have another Warwick, but it's a fretless and for some reason the narrower spacing doesn't bother me so much on that. Which is a bit odd, I know
 5.
his name is Tim Samaras, widely regarded as one of the most respected weather engineer in the storm chasing field. sadly he got caught out of position in may 2013 and the storm they were analysing shifted and his truck was flipped by a tornado and he and his team (which consisted of his son and best friend) were killed.
Bloody hell, that's a tragic story. I thought the image had a really tangible sense of danger about it - obviously a very genuine risk for anyone involved in storm chasing. We can at least try to do the man proud, in our own way!
 6.
would it make me sad if i said i know who that storm chaser is?
Haha, really?! Spill then beans... who is he?
 7. ^ Yep, please pick your favourite three. No specific criteria for judging... 'tis merely a bit of fun Use your gut. Or perhaps more sensibly, your ears (and for the pedants amongst us, your brain. Nyar!).
 8. PS: whilst you're here... have a listen and vote in the all new Basschat Noodle Bar challenge! NOODLES THIS WAY >>>

Here are the terms of the giveaway set by Mornats:

The licence is for a full version of Native Instruments Supercharger, which will work on a PC or Mac.
You'll need a Native Instruments account to transfer the licence into.
You should be able to download the software from Native Instruments (if not, I've downloaded the PC and Mac installers that I can send via a Dropbox link). Everything should go well but as this is my first transfer of an NI licence there may be hiccups. I'll do my very best to help with these but if it all goes horribly wrong I won't be able to offer an alternative prize.
In the event of me (Mornats) winning it, I'd like the prize to roll over to the following month.
In the event of a tie, Mornats shall pick from the two winners and the other person will be offered a lovely Basschat polo shirt. Winners all round!
If you already have Supercharger you can either 1) accept the transfer anyway and do as you please with the software (even sell it on), 2) offer it to someone else, either the second place entry or the composer of your favourite track or anyone you please 3) offer to have the prize roll over to the following month.
Everything to do with the licence transfer will be subject to Native Instruments terms with regards to transfers.
Any tech support should be referred to Native Instruments, although I'll do my best to help where I can.
Other than anything in the control of Native Instruments, the above will be considered flexible if something happens that's not covered by the above.
Rock on and do the challenge proud!

 12.
Any picture??????
Coming soon I'm currently traveling... Will hopefully have the next challenge up and running later this evening (or sooner if I can find a wifi!).
 13. ^ Thanks chaps! A very close run challenge this month. It's great to be admist such good company HUGE congrats to everyone who took part - sterling work. And thanks also to everyone who voted and commented. I'm currently traveling but will post up this month's challenge ASAP; hopefully this evening.
 14. PS/ I'm currently traveling but will launch the voting hopefully sometime this evening! Last-minute noodles welcome in the meantime
 15.
Is this what's meant by a 'senior moment'..?
You're just too prolific for your own good!
 16.
Darn it..! I'm not going to be able to meet that deadline this time around..! Next time..? (Not that much is missed, of course..! )
Haven't you already submitted one? (see earlier post).
 17.
I liked the funk. I listened very carefully twice, I could hear the strings but the muting I didn't hear anything in particular, maybe a case of your hearing it more from the bass than what's coming out? Or maybe covered over by the click track/metronome whatever lol Sounded great to me. Anyone else going to get there noodle on?
Cheers Twincam! I'm always uber-critical of my own playing... comes from producing music with other bassists who can really play Thanks for the +ve feedback. PS: The deadline for noodles is tonight at midnight! Get busy.
 18. No problem chaps, I'm easy! Let's maybe stick with posting it in the Voting Thread. PS: I understood this to be about spilling the beans on the technical aspects of production, rather than the process of finding inspiration from the picture. Again, I don't mind either way. It's all sounds useful
 19. ^ Good idea. I reckon post up any notes on process in the current 'Voting' thread - as the 'Get Writing' thread tends to get forgotten once the voting starts. BUT... I suggest we include such notes in the 'Writing' thread from then on (i.e. during next months challenge); perhaps inviting everyone to add some notes when they post their SoundCloud link. If they want to, of course. No obligation
 20. Noodled! http://soundcloud.co...mixes/noodle-01 To paraphrase Jessie's Diets* from the Fast Show: "this month, I have been mostly been playing funk and disco." Played on a Cort Rithimic V with the tone dialled towards the bridge. Recorded DI into my computer via an EBS combo amp, everything set flat. Some compression applied in after FX. I left the hi-hat track I'd used for tempo as part of the mix. Doing this really makes me aware of how much I need to work on my timing and muting. That's a good thing, right!? *For reference:
 21. Also try it in a different room of your house. Nearby strip lights, fuse boxes and other stuff can kick up a lot of noise on unshielded instruments. Could be that's what's causing it.
 22. Finally voted. Ruddy difficult! Still plenty of time for more...
 23. Going to get my noodle down this weekend! That sounds somewhat rude.
 24.
It's been a while.. and when I saw the theme this month, I thought.. "It's going to be tough coming up with something!!".. but never fear, BCers haven't let us down
Pah, 'tis a mere trifle! We've coped with far more surrealist themes, such as a double-header between Jimmy Savile and the Mexican Day of the Dead. And another between the art of MC Escher and Burt Reynolds in The Cannonball Run. Yeah, don't ask. This was a walk in the park - or a jump off a cliff - by comparison
 25. Sorry Rob, but this definitely means that your Wal is knackered. Very happy to take it off your damp, tear-drenched hands for a small fee But in all seriousness... it sounds to me like Dood is on the money with his comments above. Let us know how you get on.
