A quick update on this project, involving myself and other members of the Basschat community (namely 51m0n and urb). I've been distracted over Easter with DIY and decorating duties... just checked in here and wow, some of you have been busy! Good to see some new faces too. Welcome guys. These challenges are as addictive as chocolate Hobnobs... once you start, you can't stop

I just like the additional options of a 5-string. I don't find myself playing the sub-E notes any more often than I would the low notes on a four string. I like playing across the neck - I find it easier and quicker. And I like the option of being able to drop the occasional bowel-shaking B to Eb into my playing whenever I choose. And I like a bowel-shaking low end in my music... some of you four string guys just sound as though you're a little, err, constipated

That's a useful little test! My results sit pretty much in the middle between "Normal Hearing" and "Mild Hearing Loss", ranging from 5-15db hearing levels. That's me taking the test at home with our four year old busily playing the background So better than I'd thought. I do have mild tinnitus. I've suffered from various ear infections over the years; plus I sent my youth frequenting noisy gigs and clubs. Less so these days - and I now always use ear protection. Most of the time I don't notice it, but it's apparent in quiet environments. Thankfully not something I lose sleep over.
