  1. Ha ha there has been offers and interest but I haven’t seen any money yet so it’s still here!
  2. I’ve been trying different types of strings and gauges recently. I tried these but find them too dark sounding for my tastes. They have only been played for about 15 minutes on my short scale StingRay and the same on my Gibson so not even broken in. They are cut for a StingRay type bass or 2x2 headstock. Price includes UK postage.

  3. Yes it’s passive - same controls as the Sterling version but premium quality. There’s a very good comparison YouTube video with Lowend Lobster comparing the Sterling short scale to the EBMM Starry Night versions and it goes through the major differences and similarities. Worth a look.
  4. It’s a beautiful bass, it is hard to choose between the two. Both are top class quality and play so well. I can’t justify owning two however I already have far too many basses.
  5. Seymour Duncan Rickenbacker Bass Bridge SRB1-B · Electric Bass Pickup Boxed with wiring diagram and black plastic surround. A really great pickup in near mint condition. Direct replacement for Rick basses and some copies. Nice pickup for projects too. 6. Yes the case is a perfect fit for a perfect short scale bass. I don’t have a long scale StingRay case to compare it too but it’s smaller than my long scale bass cases.
  7. This beautiful short scale StingRay is in near mint condition and comes with original case with keys, inspection tags and stickers. I haven’t gigged or rehearsed with it and have only played it occasionally since I bought it. I recently had an operation on the tendons of my fretting hand so playing short scale basses is my only option these days. Having owned and played several Sterling versions of the short scale Ray I had been looking for the EBMM model for some time and found this one. Then like buses another cropped up in sunburst and maple on Basschat so I bought that too. This starry night model has a lovely rosewood board with stainless steel frets however I prefer a maple board and owning two is a bit OTT for my needs. This run was produced in limited numbers and is pretty hard to find in the UK. The finish is stunning and no doubt looks wonderful under stage lights. The bass is very light at around 3.5kgs. It’s currently strung with 45-100 nickel D’addarios. Action is low and it sounds like a StingRay albeit with a passive pickup. It is well balanced and great for people with dodgy backs or shoulders. The scratchplate has some marks from previous pick playing but the body has no dings. There is also a spare aftermarket scratchplate. No issues with the truss rod, frets or electrics. There are some tiny marks at the back of the neck from it resting on a stand. Nothing else. The case has some scuffing presumably from being transported but no cracks or broken hinges. It is clean and like new inside, it comes from a smoke free home. I am the second owner. Last picture is with my other recently acquired short scale StingRay and my old Gibson EB0. No trades. I’d prefer pickup but could be persuaded to post in the UK only at buyer’s cost as I have a decent shipping box.
  8. Bought a lovely EBMM StingRay off Roderick - great communication, packing and service and a fantastic bass. Many thanks!
  9. Ah at least you can see it I thought I’d posted a duff link.

  11. A flurry of interest but still here. A great example of a rare vintage bass.
  12. I chased that Ric 4000 when it was on sale in another guitar shop. I dithered because of the longer scale - it subsequently sold and has reappeared several times since. I keep reminding myself that longer scale instruments are no longer feasible for me. I’d no doubt buy it and not play it - like my fretless. Better stay sensible!
  13. Peter bought my Stingray Shorty, great communication and quick payment. Many thanks! Another first class member of Basschat.
  14. I was looking for a 3000 or a 3001 a few years ago. I’ve got a 3000 shortscale which is wonderful. I have owned three of these and they’ve all been fantastic sounding but too heavy for me. Great basses and in my opinion much more versatile than you’d expect from a single pickup.
  15. Sell the Ric? 🤣
  16. All replied still for sale. I’m not really interested in trades.
  17. Fender 1977 Mustang Bass USA Black and Maple Lovely Mustang bass completely original from 1977. It plays really nicely and the pickups are punchy and articulate. Although the foam mutes have perished or been removed the attachments on the bridge remain so you could restore them if required with a pickup rubber or similar. The bass has plenty of dings and scratches but is in pretty good cosmetic condition for a well gigged instrument. It’s a 70’s bass so not light - it weighs 4.1kgs so similar to a modern P bass. It’s not a boat anchor like full scale Fenders of this era but certainly not as light as a modern equivalent. Action is low, neck is straight and truss rod functions as it ought to. It is currently strung with light gauge D’Addario nickel roundwounds. Frets are in good order and the tuners and hardware work as expected. I’ve not seen a black and maple one before, the older ones I’ve played and owned have been sunburst or in a natural finish. I am the second owner and prior to me buying it hadn’t been played since the 90’s. Great short scale vintage bass and pretty rare in this original condition too. Some small dings and blemishes. See pics the worst is a big scratch on the back. Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost but would need time to get packing materials. Sorry no trades. I’m selling a few basses that I cannot comfortably play anymore following tendon surgery on my fretting hand. The issue for me with this one is the extra string tension as a result of it being through body strung. I’m not desperate to sell so please no low ball offers I think I’ve priced it realistically. Thanks! UK only, no trades.
  18. For sale this all original 1976 Rickenbacker 4001FL factory Fretless in a dark fireglo finish. It’s a beautiful instrument and comes with the original Ric case and the bridge pickup cover. I got this some time before I had my hand operation as a substitute for my old upright. Unfortunately the now permanent issues with my fretting hand means this is one of the longer scale instruments I can no longer play comfortably. If you’ve not heard a fretless Rickenbacker before check out Chris Brubeck who is seriously brilliant and uses one as his main instrument. This one is strung with Thomastik flats and really sings. On the neck binding there is an inlaid dot that corresponds to the correct fret position making it a bit easier to intonate if you are new to fretless. The neck is really skinny and comfortable on this one it’s also nice and straight with a low action. Truss rods are both working as they ought to but I haven’t needed to tweak them. The bass sounds fantastic as you would expect and the Ric ‘growl’ is surprisingly well suited to fretless. It’s not a heavy bass either at around 4kgs. There are dings a plenty but nothing that gets in the way of playing, a few finish touch ups here and there but not bad for a 48 year old gigged instrument. The case is in decent condition too with all the latches working properly. Not sure how to price this as it is a bit of a niche instrument, I’m open to reasonable negotiations. I definitely would prefer pickup on this but would be happy for you to arrange your own insured reputable courier at a mutually convenient time. UK only of course. Sold and off to a new home - thanks for all your interest.
  19. Dreadbox Hades Reissue Analogue Bass Synthesiser A nice tweakable alternative to the Moog Minitaur single oscillator with two sub oscillators. Shakes the room! Comes with box, sticker and euro rack power lead. It’s a fantastic little synth and in perfect condition. Only used alongside my modular gear briefly but surplus to requirements now as I am expanding my euro rack.

AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) sample and synthesis engine for stunning emulative acoustic instruments, synth sounds and drums. FM-X (Frequency Modulation) a unique, expressive, highly-programmable synthesis technology for dynamic, electro-modern music creation. This is my Yamaha MODX 6 keyboard - it’s been gigged a couple of times but mainly been used at home and more recently kept in storage in a gigbag. It is in excellent working and cosmetic condition with a fully functional touch screen and all features. It sounds great with loads of features and flexibility. The only flaws are a couple of surface scratches near the mod wheel and some minor scuffs. The other fault to note is that the left/mono output (covered with yellow tape in the photo) will not fully accept a jack - as if something is stuck in the socket. This was there when I bought it. As it was a B stock offer I didn’t worry about it as the other output and the headphone socket both work as they ought to. There is a huge library of onboard sounds available and more to be downloaded from the Yamaha site if required. The keyboard comes with a reasonably sturdy soft case that I bought specifically for it, the original PSU and an official printed manual. I’d prefer pickup in person however I could post in the UK at buyer’s cost but would need a few days to sort out packaging.
  22. Phantom power, or perhaps flantom power flan flinger?
