Promenade is on my patch too - well when I’m working in Morecambe. Great looking bass. There is something very cool about a black and maple Precision. Unfortunately however (or fortunately for my wallet) I can’t play long scale basses at the moment and will have to make do with my ‘76 Musicmaster. GLWTS

Vintage-brand REVO series. Ned Callan look-a-like
ash replied to NikNik's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I bought this as I always liked the Ned Callan/Peter Cook Custom bass - the twin cutaway reminded me of the early Gibson EBO Les Paul Jnr shape. The Revo is well put together especially for the money. It has a nice neck and played well unfortunately however it was heavy for a shortscale at 4.3kgs. The thick slab body also made it difficult for me to find a comfortable playing position. Definitely try one if you can as it may be perfect for you however I returned mine. -
John Birch Fretless Thunderbird/£800
ash replied to NancyJohnson's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I’ve owned quite a few early John Birch basses and the biggest selling point to collectors are the pickups and unusual switching options. Later models after - John Carling took over - were much simpler in design. Possibly one of those? The ones I’ve owned have had a back scratchplate and a very comfortable neck to body design. I believe that in the early days John Birch was most interested in circuitry design and the main luthier was John Diggins. -
SWR Workingman’s 10 Combo USA Classic SWR original pre Fender US made Workingman’s 80 watt combo. Despite its rather sexist name this amp is suitable for all and is very powerful. The 80 watt rating belies the sound this little combo can produce and using an extension cab it can deliver 100 watts of old school power. The original SWR 10” speaker is in great condition and all the controls work as they ought to. The amp comes with mains lead and Roqsolid custom cover. It weighs just over 17kgs so it’s not light but manageable, certainly a one hand lift. There is an extra handle at the bottom that works as a built in stand to angle the amp. I’ve used it in a four piece band with a loud drummer without a DI and it’s kept up. Great for someone wanting an all round amp with pro features that has a small footprint. Pickup preferred but I can post it in the UK for around £20.

Price includes new cover and postage in the UK. If you can pick it up I’ll knock some money off. Cost new is £380 plus another £20 for the cover so a good saving. Excellent lightweight powered speaker. Used for monitoring only but can be used front of house or as a full range combo. Very loud and in good condition. Some scuffing to cabinet and paintwork but functions as it ought to. Description The DBR10 Active PA speaker features the same Yamaha state-of-the-art DSP technology inherited from its predecessors, ensuring superior performance and versatility, and safe, consistent operation. The DBR10 can project deep bass, clear midrange and accurate high frequencies to the outer-most edges of a very wide coverage area and can boast 700W of power. G&L Fallout Fullerton Deluxe Launch Edition USA £745 - *SOLD*
ash replied to ash's topic in Basses For Sale
That’s interesting to know, it’s a shame that this model seems to have been overlooked by a lot of players who want a shortscale bass. The bass-whisperer’s videos on YouTube of the Fallout show off how versatile it is. A genuine limited edition US bass for the price of an Indonesian made copy. As I said I will keep this or the blue one depending on which sells first….having played this one at rehearsal last night I may just keep them both….. -
Squier Classic Vibe Mustang For sale in excellent condition, usual minor marks from playing. There is a small ding to the varnish on the headstock. The back plate has been changed to a F vintage Fender type with plastic spacer and the string retainer to a Gotoh vintage style chrome type. It’s very light and easy to play and is currently wearing D’Addario medium gauge strings. There is a gigbag with it. No trades. I can post in the UK only for £15.

It would be interesting to find out if AI descriptions have helped or hindered eBay profits. As soon as I read one it puts me off buying the item even if it’s something good. Has the AI algorithm been fed sales pitch from a 1970’s Ronco or Ktel TV advert? I saw a listing for a eurorack module and AI did not describe what the item was or did at all, although it said it had shiney lights and looked nice……

Novation KS4 Synthesiser This is a superb synth from Novation it is one of the best VA polysynths I’ve played and considered a bit of a classic these days - it’s 20 years old now so quite vintage in itself. The keyboard is excellent and programming easy and straightforward. I’ve used it both live and in the studio. These days I’m using a Yamaha MODX which means I don’t need to bring this with me for live synth duties anymore and so it’s sitting idle at home. It comes with mains lead - not a wallwart - there isn’t a manual but it’s downloadable. It’s in good condition with some cosmetic marks from gigging however it all works as it ought to. It was recently serviced and a new mod wheel pot and power switch was provided by Novation. It’s one of their earlier UK manufactured synths and very solidly built. It’s quite rare to find one with all the sliders and knobs present and intact! Pickup preferred but could post in the UK at buyer’s cost. No trades. A lot of synth for your money. There’s a very detailed review of features and function here - https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/novation-ks4-ks5?amp

Yamaha DBR12 Powered Speaker for sale. Brand new literally unboxed and tested. It has a Thomann slip cover included with it and mains lead. I bought it to use as a keyboard combo/monitor but prefer the portability of my QSC K8 It hasn’t been registered with Yamaha and it is only 8 weeks or so since I bought it. It’s pickup only as though it’s pretty light I no longer have the packaging materials for it unless of course you were willing to wait until I sourced a box. As new and includes the brand new slip cover that cost £29. The DBR Series is the follow-up to the acclaimed DSR and DXR Series and the most portable powered speaker that Yamaha offers. Comprised of three new models, the DBR10, DBR12 and DBR15, the new lineup features the same state-of-the-art DSP technology inherited from its predecessors, ensuring superior performance and versatility, and safe, consistent operation. Yamaha's innovative FIR-X tuning utilizes linear phase FIR filters for the crossover, achieving more accurate and smooth response for outstanding clarity and imaging, while D-CONTOUR dynamic multi-band processing applies optimized settings for either front-of-house or floor monitoring applications. The DBR also employs many of the same protection functions used in our top-class TXn Series professional power amplifiers, assuring reliable operation for extended durations of usage. Specification 2-way, Bi-amp powered speaker, Bass-reflex type Frequency range (-10dB): 52Hz – 20kHz Output power: Dynamic:1000 W (LF: 800 W, HF: 200 W) / Continuous: 465 W (LF: 400 W, HF: 65 W) Maximum output level (1m; on axis): 131dB SPL Inputs 1xCombi XLR/Jack Mic/Line (Channel 1) 1xCombi XLR/Jack Line (Channel 2) 2x RCA (Channel 2) Outputs 1x XLR Size + Weight W: 376mm (14.8") H: 601mm (23.7") Net weight: 15.8 kg (34.8 lbs)

A nice portable powered speaker cab, handy as a monitor, vocal PA or keyboard/instrument amp. The neutrik locks on the inputs have broken but the inputs work using a jack. The connectors can be replaced - they cost under a fiver. Works as it ought to - it’s been used lightly as a keyboard amp and monitor so has some scuffs and cosmetic blemishes to the grill. They cost around £365 new. G&L Fallout Fullerton Deluxe Bass USA Launch Edition This is the second of my G&L Fallout basses. It is in the very limited launch edition Racing yellow finish with competition stripes. I would like to sell one of my bases to fund new PA gear so no trades, sorry. This one is in what the band call the Kill Bill finish and is indeed a killer bass. It is in excellent condition and comes with a Fender gigbag. It’s a short scale instrument that has a slightly larger body so easier to get used to if you are a long scale player. It’s light weight at 3.9kgs and very easy to play with a nice action. The rosewood board is lovely and the neck has some great figuring. Note there is no G&L paperwork with this one. There is also a small cosmetic ‘bruise’ at the upper edge of the body near the competition stripe. Hardly noticeable and not an issue that affects playability. Pickup preferred but I can post in the UK only if necessary at buyer’s cost. One of the two I own is to go so I’ve dropped the price. What’s more, players used to a traditional 34″ scale will find this pint size puncher super easy to play.

I’m selling my Fender JMJ Mustang. It’s a Roadworn finished bass but as new. There’s a lot of praise for these instruments - justifiably so as this is just like picking up an old mid 60’s bass that feels worn in and ‘just right’. The bass weighs around 3.6kgs and is set up with round wound D’Addario medium gauge strings. The bass has a really punchy Mustang split pickup and stock Hipshot lollipop tuners. The aging process has been tastefully done and the fretboard is lovely with rolled edges. The board has been lemon oiled and feels great. It comes with tags and Fender original gigbag. I have the original box so I can ship in the UK if necessary at buyer’s cost of £25. This is a backup for my old 70’s Fender and has not been used - I want to buy a powered sub for my PA and this or my G&L need to go to fund this. Sorry no trades.

Fender Japanese Mustang Bass 2008, classic cream white and tortoiseshell livery. I have two of these little basses and a JMJ. This one has been my back up and rarely played. As a result it’s near mint apart from a small ‘bruise’ to the finish. The neck on this is slimmer than the original Mustang basses and the recent MIM and Squier editions. These Japanese models are highly regarded and don’t come up very often in this condition. The bass comes with a generic gigbag. The bass is very light at around 3.6kgs. It is strung with 40-100 DR round-wounds. Plays and sounds great as you’d expect from a MIJ Fender. No trades sorry, pickup preferred but if necessary I can post in the UK at buyer’s cost.
