True. The NE5534 is a dual opamp, so isn't a pin-for-pin replacement either. The most common single opamp ICs that will drop straight into that socket and perform as it should are the TL071 (or TL061 or TL081 are pin-for-pin replacement too) or the good old LM741, which I love in overdrive/distortion pedals. The 741 gets a lot of stick on electronics forums from Hi-fi buffs, as it's old and noisy in comparison to newer ICs, but that's precisely why it sounds so darn good in O/D units!
  2. RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Full of fosters and vinegar with a lovely loose approach to the production. I miss this in Their later stuff ☹️
  3. I’m Basschat and do is my wife!
  4. Another vote here for Grado headphones; awesome is indeed the correct term.
  5. Answer: sansamp bddi. 😉
  6. Nice, clean bit of routing that, good work!
  7. This is the standard way to wire a 4x10” cabinet, so you’re effectively just putting a box around each of the drivers.
  8. And that monstrosity isn’t it!!
  9. I tried the Harley Benton when I was looking for a pedal board preamp. The eq and drive were really useful, the compressor wasn’t really that great (but still useful at certain settings) but my passive basses kept overdriving the input stage so I returned it. Admittedly I play really hard, and have fairly hot pickups, but nothing that any other pedal pre (sansamp, MXR etc) hasn’t been able to deal with. Eventually I went for a second hand Dave Hall VT1 eq and love it; line in, headphone, 1/4 and xlr outs with a separate level control for each.
  10. And amazing video effects!!
  11. I really like that, not just how it looks, but the fact that it’s made of unconventional material. Good work sir, and welcome to BC.
  12. Can I suggest ‘plan B’? The ‘sweet spot’ for a MM is between the 2 pups on a Jazz. I put a MM humbucker in my Jazzes and there’s just enough room for all 3 at once. It’ll require some work on the scratch plate too, and either a selector switch or an extra volume pot, but it’s well worth doing.
  13. Not as impressive as EZdrummer - that thing actually sounds like a real drummer, not convinced by this though. It will play perfectly in time, remember the bassline between sessions, is easily controlled and doesn’t make inappropriate jokes. It’ll never catch on.
  14. Great for this though..,
  15. Good god yes!
  16. Good move. I sometimes forget that I've got one on my board as it's ridiculously tiny. HUGE sound though!
  17. Yeah, it’s in the wrong place for a start!
  18. Bump for this as I keep tripping over it!!
  19. Welcome on board chief.
  20. Makes my 3 ash bodied basses that little bit more special then; I love an ash body!
  21. 14 out of 25 in nearly 25 years of gigging. Not bad.
  22. Ooh yes, nice little organ (snirk snirk)
  23. Long term I’d use a push/pull pot to take it out of the circuit when pulled up and in the circuit when pushed down - you get the same results but still have the choice without taking it apart again.
  24. Really enjoying playing ‘sir psycho sexy’ by RHCP at the moment.
