  1. I seem to remember that this particular track (sirpsychosexy)was a Mutron with a dying battery, that’s what gave the baseline the dirty filter sound. The entire album (Blood sugar sex magik) was played on a Wal. Earlier songs on the album are almost definitely a DOD fx25 though. As a result of this thread I’ve been playing a lot of Flea lines, and the Chunk FX Agent 00 Funk gets really close, as it has a ‘clean’ knob that can be backed off to introduce some dirty, squelchy fun.
  2. Erm, Epic by Faith No More.
  3. Bought a Sansamp from Joe, dead quick and easy transaction. Recommended BCer, deal with confidence.

You could also try blending in a bit of the ‘drive’ signal, as that also brings in the bass heavy cab sim, then back off the treble and presence and set the mid control too either boost a little at 500Hz or cut some of the 1kHz frequency. I was playing about with mine earlier like this and had to cut some of the bass, at it was quite thunderous!
  5. Oh my!!!
  6. Surely if she wants more pedals then she should move to the organ...?
  7. Then of course there’s this understated downward filter from Stuart Zender on ‘Blow your mind’ from the first Jamiroquai album. really tasteful, subtle filter use.
  8. Flea’s line on ‘sir psycho sexy’ is a tone to chase: and also an honorary mention to the wah solo on ‘Coffee Shop’: and I’ve always been partial to Sleeper’s ‘Sale of the century’
  9. Nobody fancy any of the constituent parts? Bump
  10. Geddy Lee for me. I was a keyboard player at the time and had bought Rush’s Show of Hands live LP for all the cool keyboard parts - that album is mostly taken from their ‘80s’ material. I was enjoying listening to the record when the bass fill on ‘closer to the heart’ hit me. A week later I bought a bass and learned to play ‘freewill’ as my brother had a Guitar magazine with bass tabs in it.
  11. If you’ve set your eq like you say in the first post then I reckon a different cab is your best bet - choosing the right cab for your sound is vital.
  12. The only way to drop to 4 ohms would be: a) rewrite the cabinet to only use one speaker - giving a 200W can at 4 ohms or b) buy another identical cab and uses magic lead to run them in parallel. I (along with most other BCers would opt for more cabs) 😎
  13. SOLD Bought this used a couple of years ago for some dirty rock gigs and loved it, but having reduced my gigging significantly it’s just taking up too much space in the conservatory, and doesn’t really go with the blinds! Tolex has obviously seen better days, hence the low price, but is still a rock-solid workhorse. 4 ten inch drivers with high frequency horn and 4 ohm impedance. Obviously collection only as it weighs the same as one of Jupiter’s moons, and not one of the small ones either. Please note that this is the B series can, not an SVT 410! SOLD
  14. Built this over the last few months to play in a covers band that needed a ‘p with flats’ sound; all my other basses are Jazz/derivatives. Maple Jazz profile neck with rosewood board - no fret wear (it’s only a month old and cost £120 on its own). Either 2or 3 piece ash body - will check later on. ErnieBall Cobalt flats Wilkinson P pickup BBOT bridge Bridge pickup is a bridge pup in a neck pup body - I didn’t have routing template for a bridge one! Could split if there’s enough interest. Would prefer collection for this if at all possible. WITHDRAWN
  15. Nope, not much cop for metal either...
  16. Who else has played through an unfamiliar festival back line and played the first song with the amp on ‘standby’?
  17. It really ties the room together.
  18. Yet another reason to hate nazis.
  19. The grain on that neck is beautiful 😍
  20. Wha? Fretless with a touch of o/d is the BALLS!!* *ymmv
  21. You can liven things up afterwards with some Radiohead though. seriously though, I can’t imagine any sort of public performance where this would be apt. There are MUCH better standards to cover that will differentiate your band from the standard ‘pub rock’ fodder, have a look around.
