    I’m sizing up a small preamp pedal to run into a power amp and an Ampeg B410HLF cabinet. contenders so far are the Ampeg pre pedal, MXR M81, and the TC Spark Boost. Anyone got any experience of either of these units as a preamp?

    By the end of the first page of this thread I'd ticked off 12 songs from my covers band's setlist. Folks just know what they like, and like what they know. They're in the venue to relax and have fun, they really don't want 17 minute Jazz Odyssey-esque tomfoolery. They really don't.

    SOLD. this is taking up too much room on my work bench, so it needs to go ASAP. Dropped to £25 posted. Upgrading my ‘bitsa’ bass, so I’m selling this cheap Jazz bass neck. Maple neck with rosewood board and synthetic nut. Usual Fender dimensions and a set of cheap as chips unbranded tuners, ideal for a project or similar ‘beater’ bass. Price includes postage to mainland UK address of your choice.

    Only about 30 - 35 last year. Didn’t think I’d be happy only doing those, but it’s actually a pretty good gig/work/home life balance. Makes a BIG difference not schlepping up and down the country for festivals and support slots. 😊

    I had this - I ended up swapping the wire that connects one half of the pickup to the other with the wire that goes to the hot/ground part of the pot and it sorted the problem.

    Xmas is fun, as all of the carols/festive songs are in F or B flat, and it's good practice sight reading the written basslines on the roughly photocopied music scores.

    My MacBook Pro is a Late 2011, and the single best thing I did to it is put a Solid State drive in it. Extra RAM is also worth doing, but if you’ve only got the cash for one thing then do the drive, it’s like night and day! Not sure how easy this is on an iMac though, as they can be tricky to get into and even trickier to put back together! Routine cleaning is recommended, sometimes even a full, clean install of your OS from time to time. also, which OS are you running?

    I used to do quite a bit of this, and it taught me to play tastefully, and really be there in a supportive role and nothing more, which was great discipline, and a very valuable lesson. I'd recommend the gig to anyone. Apart from the homophobia. Of course, your mileage may vary.
