  1. I read something recently from Brian Wampler of Wampler effects who stated that the difference between distortion and overdrive is that distortion dumps a portion of the signal to ground from the opamp feedback loop, and overdrive doesn’t - distortion also has a high pass filter before the clipping diodes. Fuzz is a more extreme form of muck, where the signal goes through cascading gain stages, rather like running 3 or 4 distortion pedals in your signal path. I’ll see if I can find the link.
  2. I’ve got one of these; very very good little unit for not much money!
  3. Is the 7th fret (the actual metal fret) higher than the rest?
  4. Agreed. This is the standard mod I do to all my Jazzes; really useful for a boost to your signal at the flick of a switch. You lose some of the snappy top of the normal Jazz sound, but there’s s noticeable difference in ‘oomph’ in return.
  5. Precision bass with roundwounds. Pretty much every bass amp will be able to punch through with that combination.
  6. Sound like you’re looking for another drummer. I would be.
  7. Mmmmm, RE20. Great mic choice.
  8. In defence of the sound engineer, turnarounds can be short, and they’d rather use a ‘known good’ DI source than have to start line-checking and fault finding. I like the DI on my SVP preamp though, as do most studios as it’s transformer balanced and sounds lovely 😊
  9. A quick search on the ‘bay reveals a few 2U sleeves for about £30. No brainier really.
  10. SOLD I made this a while ago and it’s just been sitting redundant for a while, so following the 6 month rule it’s going up for sale. Made on Fuzzdog’s pub with an added blend control on the side for extra versatility. Other controls are level, gain, treble and bass. price includes delivery to mainland UK SOLD
  11. What you really need is a £1400 Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior signature model, they’re perfect for “carving into and putting stickers on”...
  12. I’ve been running a solid stare SP300 Laney power amp in and off for 20 years; never once let me down.
  13. Posted on here a while ago, but my Honey Bee clone has ousted a couple of the other drives at the moment.
  14. Last night was a gig in my old stomping ground. The pub I used to drink in as a student has changed hands, but has retained its air of iniquity. The band were on top form last night and it was my first wireless gig too. Ended up on the shoulders of the lead singer playing the 2nd encore and got home at about 2.30 this morning. Not too shabby.
  15. I enjoyed it from one minute (ish). Sorry.
  16. How about a one knob fuzz? Easy enough to build, even easier to market - available with different sizes of knob; of course the bigger the knob, the more you pay...
  17. I don't see it as massively offensive, just puerile, immature 'humour'. If that's how you want to live your life then carry on. Good luck.
  18. 5 hours use since the service and it smoked - I'd be having words with whoever 'biased' it... I'd have a go at this if it wasn't collection only. From Plymouth.
  19. Yeah, I'm on my 2nd. I sold mine when I lost my job about 10 years ago. Glad to have one back in the fold now though.
  20. Mmmmm. I've got one of those and they're absolutely lovely.
  21. Experienced Musician and Music Tutor at FE and HE levels offering 1:1 tuition in performance, sight reading & improvisation. Also Music Theory from an instrument perspective.
  22. Mon dieu! C’est belle. My yob is ‘75. I already sold my soul in the early 90s, but I can’t remember what for. In lieu of standard supernatural currency I’ll trade a kidney and/or lung. Any takers?
  23. Recently I’ve seen promo material for a hard rock tribute act made up exclusively of homosexual males under the title of... wait for it... GayC/DC Here’s a link to an article with videos etc... https://metalheadzone.com/heres-the-gay-ac-dc-tribute-band-gayc-dc/
  24. I’ve always loved Frank’s playing since I discovered Anthrax in high school (early 90s). Really stoked to be seeing them with Slayer in November; Scott Ian is one of my favourite players too.
