  1. Aw man, such a shame. Great guy to chat to; really helpful and knowledgeable.
  2. Another one of mine: 2 piece hard ash body and Squier neck.
  3. At rehearsal now and loving them; tight, punchy and lovely mid-tension (drop tuned a tone on each string though). I think they might be a bit too high tension at concert, but for what I’m using them for they’re brilliant. Tons of top end too with the right amp setting.
  4. Agreed, this line is awesome, ‘arry at his best!
  5. That Black and maple Jazz is lovely! 😍
  6. 3 Bitsa Jazzes, all 4 strings. 2 fretted (one set up forD, G, C, F tuning) 1 fretless.
  7. Incompetence, inflated prices and a patronising manner. I sometimes pop in to see what it would be like to be a rail commuter.
  8. New jazz body for my existing fretless neck and upgraded pickups from a Squier VM jazz. Plays beautifully and is lovely and punchy where it counts.
  9. I’m expecting a set of these in my usual gauge (45 to 105) over the next couple of days. They’re to go on my Jazz bass that’s tuned d,g,c,f for my metal band. I’ll let you know how I get on...
  10. These are awesome cabs, I use one live and it’s everything you could ever need; trouser-flapping lows and sparkly highs.
  11. I looked at one of those, but it doesn't have a line in for playing along to th'iPad.
  12. Short scale Hohner bass with a P pickup and a chipboard body. I don’t miss it.
  13. I read something recently from Brian Wampler of Wampler effects who stated that the difference between distortion and overdrive is that distortion dumps a portion of the signal to ground from the opamp feedback loop, and overdrive doesn’t - distortion also has a high pass filter before the clipping diodes. Fuzz is a more extreme form of muck, where the signal goes through cascading gain stages, rather like running 3 or 4 distortion pedals in your signal path. I’ll see if I can find the link.
  14. I’ve got one of these; very very good little unit for not much money!
  15. Is the 7th fret (the actual metal fret) higher than the rest?
  16. Agreed. This is the standard mod I do to all my Jazzes; really useful for a boost to your signal at the flick of a switch. You lose some of the snappy top of the normal Jazz sound, but there’s s noticeable difference in ‘oomph’ in return.
  17. Precision bass with roundwounds. Pretty much every bass amp will be able to punch through with that combination.
  18. Sound like you’re looking for another drummer. I would be.
  19. Mmmmm, RE20. Great mic choice.
  20. In defence of the sound engineer, turnarounds can be short, and they’d rather use a ‘known good’ DI source than have to start line-checking and fault finding. I like the DI on my SVP preamp though, as do most studios as it’s transformer balanced and sounds lovely 😊
  21. A quick search on the ‘bay reveals a few 2U sleeves for about £30. No brainier really.
  22. SOLD I made this a while ago and it’s just been sitting redundant for a while, so following the 6 month rule it’s going up for sale. Made on Fuzzdog’s pub with an added blend control on the side for extra versatility. Other controls are level, gain, treble and bass. price includes delivery to mainland UK SOLD
