    DIY Effects

Just discovered esr.co.uk from a link on the Fuzzdog website - seems really well stocked, and if their postage is as fast as Fuzzdog's then I might be onto a winner. In other news I got a Wah enclosure from the 'bay for a tenner this morning; dug out n old 500mH inductor that I had kicking around and will be embarking on treadle-pedalled shenanigans later this week...
  2. I worked up and down the country with an identical rig to this, never let me down once!
  3. OOh, a belt! what a good idea! Love the song too, thanks for posting.
  4. I was involved in s car accident over a year ago and my left shoulder is still uncomfortable most of the time but especially after playing. What’s the best strap to avoid aggravating this condition when playing?
  5. Best Jazz I ever played was a Blade, would love one again.
  6. Someone in the NW could grab a bargain here - little Fender practice amp currently at 99p https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fm.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FFender-Bass-Amp-BXR-Fifteen%2F332642798127%3Fhash%3Ditem4d730e4a2f%3Ag%3AAbMAAOSw7I5a73Aq&h=ATOD5CzweE_7wqUsHXS1oURiLn6tTzzrABdmz-cEpO0FFppT1heKfRI1SYl-Ut2WuOBGQGi3Bj6zOOKjEyaVWhqSo9qJt2jRQJ172dQ5Ve5LXtE7ZQOgdSc
  7. Hi Ho Silver Lining. Anything by Kiss. This isn’t a definitive list; these were just the first two to float to the top when I stirred the pot.
  8. I’ve found recently that I’ve started to mark my bridge pickup where I’ve been picking with the aluminium picks though...
  9. 25+ years with fingers but I’m starting to do some pick playing with my covers band; punk lines just sound better with a pick to me, and ultimately that’s what it’s all about. I’ve plumped for tekpick aluminium ones after auditioning numerous different kinds of plastic ones.
  10. Enough to get me out of trouble! Got 3 bands on the go, and each do 2 x 45 minute sets plus encores. Not counted up how many songs I know, but there’s no overlap in material. Sometimes my brain hurts.
  11. For my vocal harmonies and approximately pitched shouting (both in the same band) I’m happy with anything that doesn’t smell too bad. Some rehearsal rooms are better then others in this respect...
  12. And also did some voice work on Teletubbies. Says it all really.
  13. Fuzzdog do one called the Big Beefy Preamp. I’ve made a couple and they’re very good. https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Big_Beefy_Preamp_-_Boost_and_Overdrive/p847124_10530483.aspx or a simple booster https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Acti-Boost_-_Type_A_and_Type_R/p847124_10449859.aspx
  14. My Amp SVP PRO has a full compliment of Watford tubes in it (Harma brand) and it's awesome. Derek is the tube-guru, so he'll probably be able to advise what your amp is capable of or not. A chat costs nothing.
  15. Zappa here too. I listen to loads of other stuff, but compositionally Zappa sets the bar; damn tricky to reach it though.
  16. Sid Vicious. Steve Jones played the bass parts on ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’. Much good it did him.
  17. Yup, 12AX7 (or ECC83) are standard as regards voltage and current requirements, and have identical pin outs, so you can basically stick anything in there. It’s always worth a phone call to Derek at Watford Valves to discuss your requirements (more bassy / mid rangey, early breakup etc) as he really knows his onions.
  18. How big does that rout need to be for the controls though - it's MAHOOSIVE!!!
  19. Sibelius First is now a freebie, but is limited to 4 instruments.
  20. What’s available in the dedicated valve power amp markets? Just curious.
  21. Having a bit of a clear out at the moment and found a Big Muff clone with a clean blend and AMZ presence control (mid cut and boost) built to Black Russian specs and switchable between one and two clipping stages. Fuzzdog pub inside and board mounted pots. sold
