Ok, pickup’s arrived.
Just one more thing... does anyone know where I can source a routing template for a MM pickup? I had one a couple of years ago and lost it when we moved house last year. 😖
RHCP can stay then, having only 2 remaining original members.
I like Frusciante’s playing but much prefer Hillel’s. Yes, the early albums were a bit stinky poo, but at least it sounded like they meant what they were found.
The feel of the neck is paramount, you’ll spend all of your playing time holding it, so it better be a good ‘un.
Next for me is strings, then pickups and body wood in equal measure.
Best: Dave Hall VT2 Eq pedal. Had one before but sold it; I’d forgotten how good they are.
Ernie Ball cobalt flats get an honourable mention too.
Worst: nothing really, I’ve managed to resist impulse purchases this year.
I’ve used a modded crybaby (same model as yours) on bass before and it was pretty good. Make sure that you don’t just increase the input and output caps, but double the value of the capacitor that tunes the wah sweep to lower it by an octave as well. On the board it’s labelled as C2 and it’s a 0.01uf, change it to around 0.068uf and you’ll not go too far wrong.
Anyone got any experience of putting a MM style pup in the bridge position of a Jazz bass?
I’m toying with fitting one to my fretless Jazz but still want the option of it sounding like a Jazz when I need it to.
Tge only contender so far is the Wilkinson WJM, but am prepared to explore other units. Obviously there’ll be some routing required, as it’s a bigger pickup...
Now redundant and seen careful home use only. built-in metronome with 3 different beats. plugs directly into your bass with aux in and headphone out.

Price dropped to £20 and includes p&p to UK mainland addresses.
Using USB for 'demo' stuff - single input Alesis interface and Firewire for multitrack stuff (MOTU 828). I'm running a late 2011 MacBook pro, so still got onboard FW, might as well use it.
Mine’s done an install on my Mac, but it doesn’t appear as a stand-alone app or plugin. The SSD5 IM works, but not the drum app itself, is it a 64 bit app?
