    I use an Ampeg SVP pre into an old Laney SP300 bridged to 300w at 8ohms into a BF compact. I don’t think the power amp has been past 3, even with 2 guitarists with half-stacks and a metal drummer. I think it’s down to the output of the Ampeg pre though, that thing’s stupid loud!

    I try to avoid open strings wherever possible as I don’t like the sound of them. That said my metal band uses open strings a LOT. ?

    Absolute belter of an amp; my brother's got a Classic 30 2x12 combo and it sounds amazing!

    Me. I have a bass set up permanently in this tuning. I’m using Dunlop Flats (.45 .65 .85 .105) and the tension’s just right. ?

    Thanks for the replies everyone, I was thinking of this from an ecological perspective, as trees can grow and be ready for harvesting in 5 years or so.

    So sad to hear this. Malcolm was one of the most solid rhythm players ever, so much so that I reckon he'd have made a brilliant bassist.

    Anyone have any experience of working with paulownia wood or know how it sounds? I’m considering getting a body for a cheap project and was after some info.

    I realise that they're not to everyone's taste, but I'd rather he spend his time on making yet more custom instruments than another U2 album.

    Just bought an Amp SVP PRO from Pentode after months of searching. He even posted it to me for 'approval' as he wasn't sure of its functionality. Ridiculously happy about all of this. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Grahame to any BCer. Deal with extreme confidence.
