1. I find that imagining playing the songs (visualising it) helps me to get 'in the zone', failing that some stretching and breathing exercises.
2. allparts have them in, but they're a couple of quid each. https://www.allparts.uk.com/products/jack-socket-stereo-9-pin-pcb-mount-for-rumble-series
3. A heavily modified DOD FX25. Doesn't really help you in your search, but I love mine! LPF is definitely better (IMHO) for bass. Band Pass can be useful too, but for most 'serious' filter use (not just monkeying about at home) it's LPF every time.
4.
I know that this isn't something you should admit on a bass guitar forum, but I have never enjoyed listening to Rush and I never will. Terrific musicianship but I just can't stand the sound of Geddy's voice.
I feel exactly the same way about Black Sabbath.
5. Solo neck pickup, roll some the top end off and boost the mids on your amp. 👌🏻
6. Nice! That's a cleaner example than mine. These things sound amazing and are whisper-quiet in the studio thanks to the tiny 'hum balance' control on the back. The EQ channel is foot switchable too.
7. I've ended up with 2 copies of Ed Friedland's 'Building Walking Basslines' books (with CD). Both in very good condition; selling them for a tenner each and I'll cover P&P to mainland UK.
8. Best sound I ever had out of a Ric was through an Ampeg SVP Pro preamp through z power amp into a Hartke Hydrive 410. Magical!
9. For my 2 basses I've got a hard case and a gig bag. The bass that I use exclusively for my metal band (set up permanently drop tuned with flats) stays in the hard care, as that's what it goes to gigs in, but my main 'player' is my fretless Jazz in the gig bag; I use it for dep stuff/jam nights etc... and playing at home; that one tends to get treated a bit more gently than the other 😉
10. Graham Coxon's stellar guitar-bothering on Blur's 'Coffee & T.V.' Lovely and lunatic in equal measure; everything a solo should be 😉 as is the solo to 'Country House'
11. Ooh, I can feel a bit of GAS developing... 😰
12. Personally I wouldn't use them, especially given the current alt-right/Nazi resurgence. Your opinions may differ though.
13. Jazz basses > optical compressor > Darkglass B3k clone (low end boost; dirt, mix both at around 12 o'clock) Ampeg SVTiip preamp, Laney SP300 power amp, Barefaced compact. 😊
14.
Never got this album at all - too perfect and clinical for me, lacking in soul - runs for cover........
Me too, it's just lacking in feel; terminally over produced.
15. SSD for both drives. Uber big improvements. I run a 2011 MacBook with protools that was choking up using impulse reverbs then I put a solid state drive in. Bingo!
16. Dear god, it's like the Human Centipede all over again. Except worse.

Just finished my (3rd) phase 90 clone. Nice.
18. Why not go modular and use 2 smaller cabs like Barefaced 1x10s? My cat weighs more than those!
19. I had a GP7 head (100watts or so) and a pair of cabs (2103h and 1153) which I gigged with for years. I found myself always fiddling with the sound and never being overly happy with the sound. Then I got an Ampeg head. 😉
