I agree with Dood. I've played festivals/outdoor marquee gigs where the sound engineer (who's also in charge of the generators) wanted to know the power rating of our amps so that he could work out how many generators he'd need. I've also played outdoor gigs where there hasn't been this attention to detail and forward planning. Guess which ones the generators tripped out for?

Might try finishing off my Phase 90 clone before rehearsal tonight. I NEED a phase on the bass for 2 bars of one song; I can already hear it in my head but not out of my speakers yet.

I had great results from a Chord OC-50, but I think they're discontinued now. The EHX Octave Multiplexer is pretty good too.

Yup. I really don't like the look of Les Paul (style) basses - they just don't do it for me, but that is one good looking chunk of wood. Well done Dudgeman.

I ran an SM400 for a few years. Really clean amp and a really [i]really[/i] flexible EQ section. The built-in mid scoop sucked a lot of the power out of it so I modded it to be more of a linear response. It sounded great into a Hartke Hydrive 4x10 and then a Barefaced Compact.

I ran a DHA for yeas and loved it. Mine was used primarily to add some dirt to an uber clean SWR head and it was also my home rehearsal tool. They run perfectly well at 9v; I just used a polarity inverter from my pedal board power supply as mine was centre positive. The DI was really clean too and I'd recommend one in a heartbeat.

It's not complicated, but the tricky part is finding a dual gang pot with a centre-detent, so that you'll feel when the balance control is at 50/50. Blade used t make their basses like this and it made a lot of sense. If you use a series/parallel switch it will alter the sound of the bass, but in series mode you won't be able to alter the blend of the pickups - they're on equal output all of the time. Better call Ki0gon

Any sort of DI'ed guitar is going to sound dreadful, it's a scientific fact. I use the Brainworx Megasingle in protools as my 'amp' so that I can do it when the kids are in bed. https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/bx_megasingle.html Makes it sound an awful lot better.

BSSM is the peak of their career. I love the stuff with Hillel Slovak on guitar too, but the later stuff is just charting their decline into mediocrity.

Using a 4Ω cab and an 8Ω cab at the same time (assuming that you're using both speaker outputs on the amp) would give you an overall impedance of 2.6Ω and would blow the amp. If you're daisy-chaining one cab into another from [i]only one[/i] of the speaker outputs will give you an impedance of 12Ω (summing the cab impedances together), so you'd move more air, but the power output of the amp would be reduced.

80's Rush (Wal era) made me pick up the bass, but after that it's Disco, Funk, Motown, and Led Zeppelin II. 1970s then.
