1. I'd be inclined to get them to buy a bass for you to play at their gigs - see how serious they are about the look of it...
2. Down that road madness lies; start with a spare bass and end up taking a spare amp and cab and strap and pedalboard etc... I just take the one. If it's set up and maintained regularly then it minimises the chances of failure. One caveat though, if you're playing in different tunings then it's a no-brainer
3.
How do you power this? I've been looking at the voodoo lab 2 to power the board but it doesn't seem to provide the 1000ma required for this pedal??
One Spot. It delivers 1700mA centre negative, so I just put an inverter to power to DHA. I used to run it at 12v on its own adaptor but it's easier to run just one plug. I prefer the sound of it at 9v too - it's a bit dirtier.
4. As above, if I'm gigging with just one pedal it's a light overdrive and DI - currently (and has been for a LONG time) the DHA VT1 EQ. Magic.
5. I'm putting it together myself. Will post some audio samples once it's done.
6. Off the back of this thread I've just ordered a 'Blue Juice' bass O/D PCB from Fuzz Dog to do a 'boutique' low gain circuit and see how it sounds.
7. I've had boththe LH500 and LH1000 and been really impressed by their sound. Never had any reliability issues either. Seems I was one of the lucky ones. Twice.
8. Not cheap, but tiny/wee and great for targeting specific frequencies. http://ews-us.com/item_bassmid.php?item=custom
9. Looks good. If someone had suggested a purple scratch plate I'd have edged away slowly and started to run as soon as was polite, but I really like that. Good work sir.

80's tone

80s pop = chorus pedal and sh*t fashion. Bad news on both fronts I'm afraid 😞
11. GREAT chorus pedal.
12.
That's the one! Did you save any of the other photos?
No. Wasn't sure if this was the one you meant. I can't believe it was still playable in that condition.
13.
Imagine a Fender Precision battered to within an inch of total destruction, but still (just) playable.
Did it look anything like this? 14. Looks a little unorthadox, but Brian Eastwood makes exceptional instruments. He's also really good at making other manufacturer's sh*t ones sing just a little bit more.
15. I've had a set of flats (dunlops) on my fretless for just under a year, they're just about worn in. It's not unusual to have a set of flats on a bass for years. I'm about to put some pressure wound RS55s on my fretted Jazz. I don't expect they'll last as long as 'proper' flats, but I'm interested to see how long they stay 'zingy' for.
About time this thread had a bump. Came across this conduit cutter in my local CEF yesterday, looks like just the job if you have a lot of enclosures to drill. Screwfix have them too. http://www.screwfix....CFQEL0wodThANPQ
I use a stepper bit for all of my enclosures - saves so much time (and not so easy to lose!)

Just finished a couple of Fuzz Dog pedals. Usually I do them on stripboard, but I'd run out and I reckon my building phase is drawing to a close as I've got all of the bases covered (for now at least). Phase 90 clone (Faze 90) is awesome, but with a tiny drop in volume when engaged (added a small booster on the FX return of the switch) and their Ampegulator (Catalinbread SFT clone), which sounds great going into the DHA VT1EQ. Essentially I'm using it as a 'more dirt' channel on the board, and it's doing really well. Costly in parts, as it takes 8 (eight) JFETs, but I had them lying around after buying a job lot for the Faze 90 and getting 2 matched pairs.
18. Yup. One of the all-time greats.
19.
the way I got my Jazz to 'cut through' was to fit a push/pull volume control so I could make the pick ups in series, makes the lower mids more pronounced, a lot like my P bass, which I guess is not quite the idea, but does solve the problem of the Jazz not being heard in the mix
This.
20.
Big Martin, ex Faith No More guitarist is a pumpkin farmer
Thanks for that; I was wondering about 'Big Ugly Jim' the other day. You've saved me a google.
21. it means fretting the string, but lifting your fretting finger off the string just enough to deaden the note - so you get a rhythmic noise and not an actual note. It's quite common in funk and disco. Scott's Bass Lessons has a video here: https://youtu.be/_GoQDWVuCes
22. Two of my suggestions have already been mentioned: Presto - Rush One Hot Minute - RHCP
23. Looks a lot like a Two Notes. I mean that in a very nice way!
24.
Donald Fagen, The Nightfly. Think I'm the only muso ever who doesn't like this. Those irritating 'clever' songs played so perfectly with no soul/feel. Liked early Steely Dan stuff, but then it all ended up sounding like this.
Me too. I don't get how you have a 'supergroup' at your disposal and end up sounding like lift music from the 80s.
25. Anything by the Eagles. I used to play in a band whose entire first set (roughly 45 mins) was in the key of G major and featured a minimum of 3 Eagles numbers. We shan't work together again.
