  1. Depping for a local party band for a 50th last night. 2 sets of floor fillers and some very enthusiastic audience participation. Cab ride home in the snow was slow going though!
  2. Studio etiquette? LEARN your stinky poo, BRING your stinky poo (plus spares) and SHOWER!!
  3. Ebony is pretty hard wearing, so you should be able to keep rounds on there and not have to worry too much about it. Personally I favour Rotosound Nexus on my fretless, but they are more round wound than flats. I've tried LaBella tapes on there too, but they were just so floppy. LaBella Low Tension Flats are great strings for a fretless too.
  4. Probably my fretless Jazz through a DHA VT into an Ampeg SVT classic out to a 6x10”. Trouser wettingly good.
  5. I've got three. One fretless Jazz/MM Hybrid and a fretted counterpart, and a P bass in the lounge for noodling at home.
  6. I really like iReal Pro. It’s dead handy for my post-covid brain to take out the reliance on my shocking memory, but it’s also really clunky when making my own charts. Still the best thing I’ve tried.
  7. And EMG Licensed pickups if memory serves. My first 5 string was a B2V and as has already been stated it was great.

    DIY Effects

There's probably just a resistor (and/or) diode that's blown if you're lucky; it's likely that it's a quick and easy fix.
  9. I'm not too bothered about the bass itself, but I've got to have a Jazz profile neck. Even on my Precision it's a Jazz neck.
  10. Oof! 3 Amps is more than enough!!
  11. Also, and perhaps more importantly, it’s non-conductive
  12. Then of course there's this belter from Sarah Vaughan:
  13. Frank Zappa and the Fathers of Invention. the Papas and the Papas.
  14. 25K Linear sounds about right for an active bass, they're typical much lower value than passive instruments.
  15. I've got a Deltalite 2510 mk 1 in my shed - I might have try at putting one of these together...

    DHA VT1 EQ DI

I had a VT2 custom arrive this morning, it’ll be interesting to play through this model when it’s fixed, as the EQ circuit is passive, so cut only. There is a FAT and a BRIGHT switch though…
  17. my 2 have already been mentioned on here KZS10 and a Behringer BDI-21

    DHA VT1 EQ DI

I love DHA kit. All of my favourite recordings have been through some of his kit.
  19. My personal favourites are Ler from Primus and Vernon Reid from Living Colour, they don’t feature highly in those kind of lists either.
  20. Really depends on the setlist - if it was disco/funk stuff then I'd plump for an octave and envelope filter, if it was a rock/metal set then I'd plump for an octave and envelope filter
