1.
I used to do a Vt2-Twin-eq with headphones and line in but the headphone noise was not great so I dropped it. But I have a new headphone design now that is much better, I will try it on a VT2 and if good I will bring out a version.
...
2. A hypercardioid pickup pattern (your SM58 is cardioid, meaning the pickup pattern is slightly wider, and the mic doesn't reject as much extraneous noise as a hypercardioid pickup pattern) would certainly help the microphone to reject noise from anywhere except the front of the microphone getting to the mixer - which means you spend less time trying to eliminate it further down the line. Beyer MD201s used to be my weapon of choice for such an event, but it's been a while since I've needed to use one. Try your 58 first though, no point spending money to fix a problem until you know it's a problem.
3. Honestly, if there was a VT2 EQ with the headphone and aux in option I'd be all over that!!!! Currently the VT1 EQ is my 'don't leave home without it' box. It's my recording tool and my home practice rig. Fecking marvellous thing, Dave Hall should be knighted!
4. I'm VERY narrow-minded, and everyone is an arse!
5. Yeah, me neither. Looks beautiful though.
6.
Wow... Sounds?
With an ash body and maple neck, it'll be bloody amazing!
7. Could you not contact Masons directly and ask them to pass on your contact details to the person they sold it to - they're unlikely to give you the name and number of whoever they sold it to, but they might be prepared to do it this way round. Good luck with your search.
8. 7th fret on the A string is where it's at. Makes it TONS easier than 2nd fret D string. 'arry's right hand technique is a real anomaly in bass playing circles (but a brilliant one); 2 fingers with a really, really light touch, and plays through oodles of compression on flat wound strings.
9. Yup. I'm currently doing BVs and harmonies in my current band ('cos our REAl singer is brilliant), but I've done lead vocal and bass in a couple of projects before now.
10. Thanks Skank. I already use a master stereo reverb bus, and have bounced stuff for a while, but to run a decent amp simulator I can only run one instance. I've tried using more than that, and have even bussed guitar tracks to the same plugin (which has its limitations), but any more than that and everything goes wahoony shaped. My Late 2011 Macbook pro is feeling the strain of a lowly i5 processor. My software is fairly dated (Pro Tools 10.3.10) and my OS is 10.8.5, so they're not the fastest, but I can at least use AAX format plugins (instead of RTAS), which helps to reduce the load somewhat. Maybe I just need to find an alternative to Amplitube, as it's REALLY processor intensive.
11. If it's a brand new neck then chances are it's not drilled for the neck bolts, so as long as it's the standard width (either 63 or 64mm, I can't remember off the top of my head) and it's got the same end shape (slight radius or square) then you'll be fine.
12. Which driver are you running? It seems there is a problem with an earlier USB driver (Novation 2.3), and later releases (2.5 and 2.7) addressed this. http://d19ulaff0trnck.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/novation/downlo...
13. I'm looking for a one-stop-box to let me record guitar parts (alt/prog rock and occasionally metal) in my Pro Tools rig. My Macbook Pro is slowly getting to the point where it's not fast enough to run amp simulation software alongside IR reverbs, EZ Drummer and other general production tools, so I'm looking to process the guitars 'out of the box' and just track them in PT. The Vox Stomplab caught my eye, I just wondered whether anybody had any experience of them, or could suggest anything better for a similar budget? I figured that instead of having to bounce every guitar track I might as well get the sound right and then record it, instead of fannying about in mix down (one of my pet hates).
14. Another vote for Neutriks from me. If you're going to spend time and money building something, particularly for live use, then quality wins every time. Buy cheap, buy twice.
15. SOLD Up for sale is one of my modified Big Muff (Ramsbottom Fuzz) pedals - I made a couple. True bypass, and enhanced bass response (without being overly woolly), and a reduced mid 'scoop' to help you cut through in the mix without losing the flattering tone of the traditional Muff. Mains only, as there's no room for a battery inside the case. Sound samples are here: https://soundcloud.c...ramsbottom-fuzz Price includes Postage and Packing.
16. Never had any problems with anything from Dave Hall. I've had solid state stuff as well as the valve kit and it's always been ticket boo. Never had an LS-2 though, so couldn't possibly comment. Sorry.
17. Wow. I love this! Thanks for posting. Just pre-ordered the EP from iTunes - £1.99!!
18. When You Gonna Learn? sailing close to the wind with this one: She Watch Channel Zero?! from Public Enemy.
