1.
Based on what I saw, which wasn't a massive amount, she seemed almost hyper with an excessive nervous energy
mmmm, this is sometimes referred to as 'coked up'…
2. Not too shabby. Played mainly for family and friends, so decided to do the second set on the fretless. I really enjoyed it, and had very favourable comments from the guitarist stood next to my amp about my intonation.
3. One word of caution though, rosewood splinters really easily, so don't rush the fret removal otherwise you'll end up with ragged edges to the gaps, instead of lovely straight ones.
4. I always take a recorder to rehearsals, just in case we need it. Nobody ever lets me play it though.
5. Just watching it on iplayer. The sound changed dramatically towards the end of 'Rock it' (3rd or 4th song in) for the better, almost like the YTS kid found the 'put the bass back in' button...
6. Just set my telly-box-thing to record the 1/2 Motörhead set (highlights, presumably) and the Lemmy movie afterwards. Now, if only there was a way to record BBC programmes onto the computer... … http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/39019/get-iplayer-automator
7. Oooh, I'm in. My bitsa Fretless is mostly white...
8. I do this the other way around. At the end of my signal chain is the DHA VT1 that's always on with a gentle amount of drive, and in the middle is my Coloursound bass fuzz clone. Sounds great - better than the other way around to my ears.
9.
Mine would be Sir duke ! Ballbuster!
This. Awesome tune, but you have to really work for it.
10.
No they don't.
11. Neck from a Shine P Bass, Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Some fret wear, and probably needs a new nut, but still plays well. Includes tuners. SOLD
12. Just do it. Jazz elitists will always find something to disagree with.
13. The problem with reverb pedals is that they are mainly digital units, which have a higher current draw than analogue units. There are some Spring Reverb pedals about (Demeter and Carl Martin make them, amongst others), but they ain't cheap, and they don't sound as natural as digital reverbs, which tend to model 'real' spaces...
14.
I agree with you . I also think they should've played the set In the reverse order. Crowd faves first . Somebody in here thought that is what woukd happen iirc.
They did that at Manchester last night - a comprehensive romp through all of the albums (only exception was Antipop) as a trio, then the Wonka set. Encores with the cellist and percussionist were brilliant!
15.
This is true, in an interview just days before the accident, he told a journalist they would have got more melodic and worked with a big name producer, so the black album would probably have gone ahead in a very similar fashion. It's also heavily rumoured that after the European tour that Lars would have been sacked. So the rumour goes, James and Cliff felt limited by Lars' drumming ability and we're looking elsewhere, most keenly on Dave Lombardo from Slayer (who also threatened to walk from slayer around the sa time). Now THAT is a lineup I'd like to see!!!
I think I read this in Dave Mustaine's autobiography - Hetfield and Hammet didn't fancy losing another 1/4 of the lineup, so they kept Lars after Cliff's death. Since we're dealing in 'what ifs' I'd like to hear Hetfield, Mustaine, Burton and Lombardo with extra Scott Ian!!! Ah well, we can all dream.
16. Reidy's Home of Music is owned by Rimmers.
17.
i'd be happy to just grab it for the hilarious double P J configuration .
It's ludicrous. got a LOT of gigs coming up with the metal band, so that's what drew me to it. it'd look brilliant on stage. I'd have to hear it first though, might give it a once over.
18. I'm in a band that does everything in Eb tuning .045" - .105" does it for me.
19. Just been offered one of these for abut £70. Anyone know anything about them? Needs a good clean and a fairly major setup, just wondered if anyone knew anything about them.
