1.
I am on the look out for a VT2 EQ after selling mine too. I know it's too big and you need to make sure you have the right power supply but nothing has come close for me and that's after a whole number of drive pedals.
I found this with the VT1 EQ. I'm on my second, as I thought I could get the same sound with smaller, 9v centre-negative pedals. Turns out that I couldn't. If you wants a tube drive, buys a tube drive.
2. Yup. Love them. My weapon of choice is the VT1 EQ, and I never leave home without it. Even festival gigs where there isn't room or time to take the pedalboard I'll have it velcroed to my amp head. There's a really comprehensive review here: https://youtu.be/cYpdDY3dMxo
3. I've heard of people putting nail varnish in there to do the same job. Not sure I'd glue stuff though, and I'd definately not Loctite® it unless I absolutely, never, unequivocally didn't want it to move again. Ever.
4. Ah well, at least it's not snuff. It is pretty vile though.
5. Brilliant. You might want to start buying 60W bulbs in bulk too….
6.
Mo Foster and Eddy Grant have just collaborated on a recording of ZZ Top's Cheap Sunglasses.
Odd thing about Eddie Grant - he was entirely self-funding.
7.
Based on what I saw, which wasn't a massive amount, she seemed almost hyper with an excessive nervous energy
mmmm, this is sometimes referred to as 'coked up'…
8. I really enjoyed it. Good stuff!
9. Who? Nah, they're joint third with Shakin' Stevens.
10. Not too shabby. Played mainly for family and friends, so decided to do the second set on the fretless. I really enjoyed it, and had very favourable comments from the guitarist stood next to my amp about my intonation.
11. One word of caution though, rosewood splinters really easily, so don't rush the fret removal otherwise you'll end up with ragged edges to the gaps, instead of lovely straight ones.
12. I always take a recorder to rehearsals, just in case we need it. Nobody ever lets me play it though.
13. Just watching it on iplayer. The sound changed dramatically towards the end of 'Rock it' (3rd or 4th song in) for the better, almost like the YTS kid found the 'put the bass back in' button...
14. Just set my telly-box-thing to record the 1/2 Motörhead set (highlights, presumably) and the Lemmy movie afterwards. Now, if only there was a way to record BBC programmes onto the computer... … http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/39019/get-iplayer-automator
15. Good job. Glad it went well.
16. Oooh, I'm in. My bitsa Fretless is mostly white...
17. I do this the other way around. At the end of my signal chain is the DHA VT1 that's always on with a gentle amount of drive, and in the middle is my Coloursound bass fuzz clone. Sounds great - better than the other way around to my ears.
18.
Mine would be Sir duke ! Ballbuster!
This. Awesome tune, but you have to really work for it.
19.
No they don't.
20. Neck from a Shine P Bass, Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Some fret wear, and probably needs a new nut, but still plays well. Includes tuners. 21. Just do it. Jazz elitists will always find something to disagree with.
22. The problem with reverb pedals is that they are mainly digital units, which have a higher current draw than analogue units. There are some Spring Reverb pedals about (Demeter and Carl Martin make them, amongst others), but they ain't cheap, and they don't sound as natural as digital reverbs, which tend to model 'real' spaces...
