  1. Based on those numbers, yes. 😄
  2. Better by you, better than me - Judas Priest
  3. Prince was a musical genius. It’s a term that gets thrown around a lot, especially when someone dies, but Prince definitely was.
  4. Bring down the birds - herbie Hancock chameleon - herbie Hancock are two that I’d consider essential.
  5. It sucks when you have a frustrating night like that, I hope you get a better experience next time around.
  6. Pretty good. Played at an open mic/Jam night as part of the house band. Busked my way through a good few songs that I've not played before, but with musicians that I knew, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Didn't take an amp, so was reliant on the house PA; I reckon next time I'll take a feed from the mixer into a set of IEMs.

It's not as bad as you think - get the right solder (rosin core) and a clean iron set to the right temperature and once you've got one done the ret should follow suit.
  8. I thought I didn’t care what my instruments look like until I realise my main two are almost identical, so I think I have a type. Condition is less important to me than how it plays and feels. All of my kit is old and battered but I know it quite literally inside out and know exactly how it will respond to my sausage fingers, so it has that going for it.
  9. Nice tidy example of a great machine. The RAM is indeed updatable and doesn't require any specialist tools or indeed any experience, just a small enough screwdriver to get the base plate off. This model will take 16GB, but the BIG improvement to these machines is installing a solid state dive, which you've already done. I have an identical machine on my lap right now!
  10. Back in the 90s I played with some bands that were almost exclusively keyboard and drums - 5 string basses made it MUCH easier to play in 'flat keys' that they favoured.
  11. I’ve got something very similar on my board, it’s great for accessing multiple pedals in one click!
  12. Isn’t there a triumvirate pedal that has 3 frequency bands of distortion, or was it a dream I had?
  13. Maybe on a reading gig...
  14. Third Eye is a reference to the pineal gland in the brain. Apparently it’s a vestigial thing in your heed.
  15. That makes more sense to tune at the 3rd fret, means that the open strings are slightly flat, but looks like it's a trade-off. I mainly play fretless bass anyway, so maybe a fretless is the way to go.
  16. I played one for the first time at my local ukulele club last week. Obviously it sounded better through the PA, but the strings were really, really 'grabby' and the intonation was way off! Are they all like this?
  17. The Frankie Goes To Hollywood track? I thought that was Holly Johnson on vocals and only had one chord?
  18. Wonder wall and pretty much anything by the Eagles. My problem isn’t necessarily with the material by the original artists (mostly) but is due to the number of times I’ve heard less able musicians butcher them, to the point where I find the originals unlistenable. The same cannot be said for Steely Dan. On paper their records should be amazing and render all other music unnecessary, given the calibre of the writers, players and producers on their recordings. Sadly what they delivered was overproduced, cheesy yacht-rock. I know that probably makes me unpopular, but it’s a hill I’m prepared to die on.
