1.
I agree with you . I also think they should've played the set In the reverse order. Crowd faves first . Somebody in here thought that is what woukd happen iirc.
They did that at Manchester last night - a comprehensive romp through all of the albums (only exception was Antipop) as a trio, then the Wonka set. Encores with the cellist and percussionist were brilliant!
2.
This is true, in an interview just days before the accident, he told a journalist they would have got more melodic and worked with a big name producer, so the black album would probably have gone ahead in a very similar fashion. It's also heavily rumoured that after the European tour that Lars would have been sacked. So the rumour goes, James and Cliff felt limited by Lars' drumming ability and we're looking elsewhere, most keenly on Dave Lombardo from Slayer (who also threatened to walk from slayer around the sa time). Now THAT is a lineup I'd like to see!!!
I think I read this in Dave Mustaine's autobiography - Hetfield and Hammet didn't fancy losing another 1/4 of the lineup, so they kept Lars after Cliff's death. Since we're dealing in 'what ifs' I'd like to hear Hetfield, Mustaine, Burton and Lombardo with extra Scott Ian!!! Ah well, we can all dream.
3. Yup, that's the ones.
4. Reidy's Home of Music is owned by Rimmers.
5.
i'd be happy to just grab it for the hilarious double P J configuration .
It's ludicrous. got a LOT of gigs coming up with the metal band, so that's what drew me to it. it'd look brilliant on stage. I'd have to hear it first though, might give it a once over.
6. I'm in a band that does everything in Eb tuning .045" - .105" does it for me.
7. Just been offered one of these for abut £70. Anyone know anything about them? Needs a good clean and a fairly major setup, just wondered if anyone knew anything about them.
8.
I think Wayne got married, didn't he? That might explain his reduced activity!
He'll be back when the cake's all gone and the GAS creeps back in...
9.
It's not your band so why bother? If they like their setup then leave them be. I know I'd be peed off if a random bloke said we could improve the sound doing X, Y and Z.
I know! Rush covers ain't gonna help nobody! getting my coat...
10. I had a 3leaf filter a while ago (groove regulator) and it was better than ANY EHX filter I've ever used (pretty much every variety of Q-tron, Bass balls etc…).
11.
right-angled neutrik connectors and decent cable are as good as they get as far as I'm concerned. If you solder your own you know they're done right...
This. I've had the same cable for over 20 years - Neutrik and Van Damme. I use George L's though
12. I'm at Manchester - 4th time seeing Primus. Cannae wait.
13.
No idea..... but this is something similar with more effects built in for ~£30
That's almost identical to the MUX mod core I used to have, great bits of kit at any price, even more so given that they're cheap as chips.
14. I used a house rig once. Just the once.
15. The Magic Roundabout and Roobarb & Custard
16. How do you do that? I have (on average) about an hour of detailed, focussed listening every day. Tends to be late at night through good headphones. Nice.
17. Slander played the Tap N Tumbler in Nottingham last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great crowd, really helpful venue staff and excellent sound engineer. Only downside was the 6 hr round trip. I'd definitely do it again though!
18. Pleased to report a brilliant venue with really helpful staff, and a very competent sound engineer to boot.
19. Somebody already has: DHA VT2 twin http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/page37.html Granted, it's not got a blend, but why try to emulate tube breakup, why not just use a tube?
20. I put 500kΩ pots on my Jazz (one single coil, one humbucker) and it's really opened up the top end. Even when I run the humbucker in 'single coil mode' it's a lovely, biting edgy sound. I like that. I fully understand that some folks might not though.
21. NWOBHM quintet 'Slander' are heading to the Tap n' Tumbler this Friday (19th June) for an evening of dirty rock and shenanigans.
22. Classic head! My first 'proper' head was a Series 6 TE with a GP7 pre. Loved it. Also it should be noted that when you're not using it as an amp, you can rest it on its font face and use the heatsink as a letter rack…
23. yup, good little units those!
24. Brilliant, thanks for the link!
