1.
I Want You Back - Jackson 5. That bass bit in the middle. its arpeggios, fast starting on an 'off' 16th note. Hard to get the feel right.
Even harder to play it with just one finger on the plucking hand - quite how St. James did it beggars belief.
2. You'd be better off with a very short delay for that I would have thought.
3. I've just got 3 months out of a set of Thomann's basic £5 sets. I got a job lot to do some recording back in October (I likes 'em bright and punchy, but couldn't afford named strings in that quantity) and they've performed admirably. My right hand technique is REALLY heavy, so to still be playable after 12 weeks of that sort of pummelling is no mean feat.
4.
Great stuff! Hearing one of my songs in the radio for the first time is one of my greatest memories! Record the whole show if you can! Well done
This. I still have the whole show on CD.
5.
There is no way it's going to look as silly as this and he pulls it off.
Who's THAT?
6. Octave. Better still, Octave AND mild O/D.
7. I'm a Jazz man, and have been through a fair few pres. Aguilar Tone Hammer, MXR M80, Hartle Baas attack, BB Xotic, and DHA VT1eq are the ones I can remember. They all has their plus points, but I went back to the DHA because of the eq. Moat of the 'bass Pre' pedals have a 2 band eq (bass and treble) with no ability to dial in more mids. If you want 'punch' then you might want to consider a compressor though.
8.
Scratchplate. You can always change that again.
This. Or 'Tippex' that pickup...
9. Two pairs of George L plugs. 2 straight and two right angled ones. Also included is 30cm of purple George L cable £13 the lot. I'll cover p&p

simple R/C timer circuit is here - http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/rc/rc_1.html Then into a tranny switch. Never had to do this, but just thinking about it from fundamentals. There's probably an easier way to do it, so hopefully someone else will be along in a moment to improve on it. Transistor as a switch: http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/transistor/tran_4.html

Press it half a second later? Dunno, small timer circuit (simple resistor and capacitor affair) then use a transistor to do the actual switching maybe? Or a transistor and a relay (is that over egging the pudding though?)
12. Yowza! Up to 11 posts ago it was my YOB birth. Beautiful bass that.
13. My eldest (7) has drum lessons at his school (very music orientated school - I approve) but we've not got room for a kit at home. I'm considering doubling the size of the garden shed and putting a small one (kick, snare, hats) in there as a starter to get him used to reading 'standard' rhythms, then see how we get on.
14.
The Clash - London Calling Rancid - Maxwell Murder Anthrax - Got The Time
Gets my votes!
15. Thermal trip or dry joint? I had a digital piano that did this - it was the speaker protection relay that had gone, so whilst everything powered up there wasn't any output.
16. The tone passive tone control on a guitar or bass shouldn't really have any effect on the sound when they are up at full. Some folks reckon that bypassing them altogether gives a little bit more top end (actually it's not cutting as much top,as it's actually a low pass filter, but that's splitting hairs). 500kΩ volume pots are the way forward for humbuckers though - they'll let more top end through to the tone circuit, so check whether you've already got them. My 6 stringer is an SG copy, and I'm toying with making a Treble-Booster for this very reason - 500kΩ pots across the board and it's still quite a 'thick' tone. If I could only put a coil tap switch on it to turn them into single coil pickups then that would really SING through 500kΩ pots….
17. I've always rated Frank Bello's tone on 'Got The Time' by Anthrax, http://youtu.be/be7iNHw8QoQ and John Giblin's sound on Fish's 'Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors' album. http://youtu.be/WoSOJhN7DMU
18. We don't mention the 'W' word often, but when we do it's this beauty... Monster track! Also, Wilkommen.
19. I keep meaning to enter, but in all honesty it's not a priority for me, and keeps getting pushed further down the list of stuff I need to get done. I've listened to, and voted in 2, maybe 3 month's competitions though. I don't feel that the publicity the Composition Challenge receives is excessive. I feel a little pang of guilt whenever I see it mentioned, but that's just me feeling bad for not having the time to participate. Maybe I need to review my composition/life balance.
20. The octave pedal was a bit 'stale' too, but for 50 shekels it's not too shabby.
21. There' a bit of a queue - just waiting for the original chap to get back to me.
