I've pulled them out cold on maple boards, but rosewood requires a little bit more finesse as it splinters really easily.

I play in an original metal band. My iPod houses a really broad spectrum of stuff from (quite literally) ABBA to Zappa, and has quite a few massive tangents along the way. There's only two kinds of music; stuff you like and stuff you don't like. Everything else is just marketing.

£600 and it's just sporting USB connectivity? Why no firewire (or Thunderbolt)?

Never forget where your towel is... and take a book, actually a couple of books. Squeeze in some exercise everyday and eat as well as you can. 5 days of junk food and debauchery sounds like fun, and it is, but you're also asking your body to do things that it's never done before, at least in the quantities that you need it to. Like any other piece of your equipment, look after it. Rest well too. Enjoy the ride Charic.

MXR M80 does though… you can pick one up for less than a ton (usually) on here too.

Progress report on my part - a US label has agreed to distribute my band's second album (when it's finally finished) over there. I reckon that's a bit of result.

Nothing wrong with the control panel per se, it's just mounted upside down. On every Höfner bass ever made…

Take the wire from that runs from the second volume control (the one from the outside of that pot to the middle lug of the tone knob) and put that straight to the jack socket. you can remove the wire that runs from the middle lug of the tone control as it's no longer needed.

You'd be better off with a very short delay for that I would have thought.

I've just got 3 months out of a set of Thomann's basic £5 sets. I got a job lot to do some recording back in October (I likes 'em bright and punchy, but couldn't afford [i]named[/i] strings in that quantity) and they've performed admirably. My right hand technique is REALLY heavy, so to still be playable after 12 weeks of that sort of pummelling is no mean feat.

I'm a Jazz man, and have been through a fair few pres. Aguilar Tone Hammer, MXR M80, Hartle Baas attack, BB Xotic, and DHA VT1eq are the ones I can remember. They all has their plus points, but I went back to the DHA because of the eq. Moat of the 'bass Pre' pedals have a 2 band eq (bass and treble) with no ability to dial in more mids. If you want 'punch' then you might want to consider a compressor though.

Press it half a second later? Dunno, small timer circuit (simple resistor and capacitor affair) then use a transistor to do the actual switching maybe? Or a transistor and a relay (is that over egging the pudding though?)
