1. Yowza! Up to 11 posts ago it was my YOB birth. Beautiful bass that.
2. My eldest (7) has drum lessons at his school (very music orientated school - I approve) but we've not got room for a kit at home. I'm considering doubling the size of the garden shed and putting a small one (kick, snare, hats) in there as a starter to get him used to reading 'standard' rhythms, then see how we get on.
3.
The Clash - London Calling Rancid - Maxwell Murder Anthrax - Got The Time
Gets my votes!
4. Thermal trip or dry joint? I had a digital piano that did this - it was the speaker protection relay that had gone, so whilst everything powered up there wasn't any output.
5. The tone passive tone control on a guitar or bass shouldn't really have any effect on the sound when they are up at full. Some folks reckon that bypassing them altogether gives a little bit more top end (actually it's not cutting as much top,as it's actually a low pass filter, but that's splitting hairs). 500kΩ volume pots are the way forward for humbuckers though - they'll let more top end through to the tone circuit, so check whether you've already got them. My 6 stringer is an SG copy, and I'm toying with making a Treble-Booster for this very reason - 500kΩ pots across the board and it's still quite a 'thick' tone. If I could only put a coil tap switch on it to turn them into single coil pickups then that would really SING through 500kΩ pots….
6. I've always rated Frank Bello's tone on 'Got The Time' by Anthrax, http://youtu.be/be7iNHw8QoQ and John Giblin's sound on Fish's 'Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors' album. http://youtu.be/WoSOJhN7DMU
7. We don't mention the 'W' word often, but when we do it's this beauty... Monster track! Also, Wilkommen.
8. I keep meaning to enter, but in all honesty it's not a priority for me, and keeps getting pushed further down the list of stuff I need to get done. I've listened to, and voted in 2, maybe 3 month's competitions though. I don't feel that the publicity the Composition Challenge receives is excessive. I feel a little pang of guilt whenever I see it mentioned, but that's just me feeling bad for not having the time to participate. Maybe I need to review my composition/life balance.
9. The octave pedal was a bit 'stale' too, but for 50 shekels it's not too shabby.
10. There' a bit of a queue - just waiting for the original chap to get back to me.
11. Nothing really. I could do with a turn table preamp, but I might just make one this weekend. EDIT: and scones - do they count?
12. DHA VT. It's a tube in a box that you overdrive - what's not to like?
13.
Even more fun when you start cranking truss rods, shimming necks, moving bridges and sawing bits off intonation screws. Get stuck in!
I've done all of the above (and more) and can confirm that this is indeed the case. Get stuck in people!
14. I'd use the time to play dominoes with the punters. Darts would be a terrible faux pas, but dominoes are fine.
15.
Bugger off, you lot are famous AND good!
but also dead friendly and supportive. You guys will be grand!
16.
If a pub told us we couldn't play anywhere nearby I'd happily take a retainer fee for the nights they don't want us playing. But I can't see any pub offering that so I'll play where I like thank you.
Nice!
17. I've posted this on the 'NWOBHM Forever' Facebook group too. Sorry.
18. Having a bit of a clear out and came across my EHX Headphone amp. The graphics have worn off, so it's just a tiny black box with an input, volume control and headphone socket instead of a transferred one, but works perfectly. Yours for £10 Postage would be on more than a couple of quid I reckon. SOLD

DIY Effects
Or if your breadboard experiment gives you several sounds that you really like, get a 4/5/6-way rotary switch and play to your heart's content
This - The DAM Ezekiel 25 does this I think.
