  1. I've had one of these many moons ago - lovely, squelchy fun to be had!
  2. EWS BMC is another great single-band mids pedal. Not tried the Haunting Mids but I've had very positive experiences with it; brilliant piece of kit!
  3. Fretless Jazz into an Ampeg preamp is my (not so) secret sauce. At least half of the time I'll be playing with a custom clone of the Blue Tube/Butler 903 tube overdrive with a blend - set to just below dirty so it crunches when I dig in. Lovely.
  4. I've got one that I built from online schematics - works great and makes a massive difference to how far my speaker jumps whenever I fire up my octave pedal. Not a very scientific conclusion, but it means that I can get more efficiency from my amp.
  5. I think they're a welcome part of the live experience. Not everyone can write songs and/or be a recording artist, so cover bands give amateur musicians a chance to experience the thrill of playing live. Similarly not everyone can afford to pay to see a live band every week, so it provides inexpensive entertainment for punters down the Dog and Duck. The way I see it it's a win/win. I think if an established artist wants to release a cover of someone else's song then have at it; the original artist/label can always stop the release of the cover if they don't like it.
  6. What’s the price point though, the TE Elf and Warwick Gnome series already have this corner of the market pretty much sewn up.
  7. Dunno, but if it was good enough for Prince…
  8. Welcome from another (just about) Lancastrian!
  9. I've used Boss CEB-3 and CEB-2 DOD stereo chorus (old blue thing) NUX Mod Core Multi effects pedal. Zoom patches on 3000B and MS-60B What I now use: EHX Small Clone. I just prefer the sound of the EHX. The Boss ones were too subtle, and the DOD I can't really remember too much about.
  10. More power to your elbow Telebass, enjoy your new lease of life!

    Chorus Joy

It’s one of the best feelings in the world when the sounds coming out of your speaker(s) match the sounds in your head. Glad you’ve got a result!
  12. Here's the compatibility table for the Sonicfoam tips - I got them from Amazon. SF1s seem to fit all of the KZ range.
  13. Yes. Most of my playing now involves depping for other players, so I like to keep abreast of what local bands are doing, just in case...
  14. This. Definitely. Darkglass heads are voiced perfectly for newer metal styles (think John Stockman from Karnivool) but most of my metal playing was through Ampeg stuff 0 their cabs have a noticeable 'boom' at around 200Hz which was great for filling the space when two lead guitarists were going widdly widdley in harmony.

    DIY Effects

Loving the semi-parametric designs. I'll never understand why they're not more common on amplifiers; I used to play SWR amps and they were SO flexible. Ampeg preamps come close with the mid frequency selector (which I use now), but mostly its just a toggle between two preset frequencies.
  16. I had the exact same model. Great sounding instruments!
  17. I'd echo Flea. For me they peaked with Blood Sugar Sex Magic and it's been a slow decline since them. I'll submit Chuck Rainey. AMAZING bassist but Steely Dan just superheats my uric acid. And not in a good way.
