1. Nice looking bass, not sure I'd drop 3k on it though.
2. I broke a string before christmas at rehearsal, but that turned out to be a problem with the bridge, once I'd got that sorted everything's been ticket-boo. I don't take a backup bass, amp or cab. Down that route madness lies... I've got a bass lead with an XLR plug on the other end though - the absolute worst case scenario is that I go through the 'snake' to the PA directly. Worse things happen at sea. Also I really look after my kit.
3.
It's the only option, really...
Option? I thought it was mandatory.
4. The D'Addario half rounds worked for me when I played a 5. http://www.daddario.com/DADProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=3769&productid=178&productname=ENR71_5_Half_Rounds_5_String_Bass__Regular_Light__45_130__Long_Scale lots of folks on here swear by the Status Hotwires though.
5. That's a beauty - I genuinely hope you're happy with it. Just remember - "Fortune favours the broke".
6. or 'ground wounds' - best of both worlds...
7. Looks suspiciously like the box for the enigma machine at Bletchley park. Given its age, it may well be. I think the marks on the top were mdd by a Supermarine Spitfire, unless I'm very much mistaken - scuffs are too close together to be otherwise.
8. Cool, glad this has had a happy ending. They stink when they blow though, don't they!
9. I was going to listen to this, but I went 'outside and closed the door'.
10.
but that's half the fun of searching for the right fuzz!
This! I found the Colorsound Bass Fuzz sounded amazing, but didn't really like my active bass through it, so I took the actives out of my bass... sometimes you just know.
11. I did the survey - took me longer than 20 seconds though, but that's probably down to my failing eyesight...

LEDs give a nice 'tubey' tone when used as clipping diodes too...
13. I suppose if you're not gigging then it's a good way to play to an audience.
14. Axis: Bold As Love by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. f*** me it's good!
15. Or trade for whatever: cake, serendipity, scatter cushions etc...
16. Nice! JPJ is one of my favourite, all-time players. Of everything!
17. It's dead simple; remove two capacitors and put one back in a different place... The frequency response looks like this (before and after) And this is how it looks in the real world. Before: After: 1. remove the 0.1 uF capacitor 2. Use it to replace the 0.001 uF capacitor
18. GFS pickups all the way, for guitar OR bass.
19. After a 4 hour rehearsal today I can confirm that my SM400 is now über loud - last rehearsal it was pretty much maxed out to keep up with a drummer and 2 guitarists, today it didn't go above half.
20. Depending on how it's wired (presumably an RC filter, if 2 of the 3 lugs are going to ground) the 10nf will focus on or around 650Hz to 3,385Hz and the 15nf will operate on frequencies between 429Hz to 2,257Hz. Obviously there's a lot of overlap, but of the 2 I'd plump for the 10nf. You should of course wire the 10nf in parallel with a 2nd, 2nf capacitor to achieve 12nf, your frequencies would then be 536Hz to 2,281Hz. Another option would be to use a variable capacitor, (a little trimpot) but I'm not sure there's enough room on the board for anything lie that...
