1. Nothing. My EQ is set flat. If it had a bypass function then I'd use it.
2.
Peter Gabriel-Genesis
This.
3. I keep trying to like P basses, but what can I say, I'm all about Jazzes. The neck, the sound, the offset body... why wouldn't you?
4. I always liked Geddy Lee's rig from a couple of years back:
5.
Come to think of it...nearly very band I listen to...Why are we debating this?? The bass player is ALWAYS the best musician!!!
This. [/thread]
6. Cheap and cheerful 4 in-line (Fender style) chrome plated machine heads. No screws, but they've got the ferrules £10 to you lovely people. 7. Lowering the height of the neck pickup using the screws and raising the bridge one would be the first thing to try.
8. Guitar or bass? I'm looking for a small 'donor' amp to mount inside my home-made 1x12" and this may just fit the bill...
9. I can't believe that the Roadhouse in Manchester still operates like this. It's as ludicrous as getting the bands to advertise the gig and sell the tickets, then calling yourself a 'promoter'.
10. Or you could make a loop pedal (4 jacks, footswitch and case) and stamp on that instead of the plashit behringer pedal. You could probably do it for a tenner (plus P&P) from www.doctortweek.com
11. I may get round to doing some recording over the next couple of nights, I'll do some demos of the MM on its own. Actually the master plan is to have seperate outputs for the J pups and the MM; run one through the fx board then combine them both at the preamp stage...
12. If you want a *significant* amount of bang for your 'buck (sorry, couldn't resist) then I'd plump for GFS kit. If you don't fancy waiting and probably paying import duty, and are still budget conscious then Wilkinson humbuckers are worth a look. I've got a Wilkinson on my Jazz at the moment and it sounds MASSIVE!
13. I've used the Ultra Jazz ones and they were excellent, can't imagine that the P ones would be any less so...
14. http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/trbx/trbx304/?mode=model should be within your price range, available in white and get good reviews too... only thing it's got a maple/mahogany laminate neck and rosewood board.
15. I've never owned one, but I've heard that the best way to get them to perform at their loudest is to max out the 'volume' knob, and use the 'gain' control to set your level.
16. Shame we can't sort out some sort of 'Rig Relay' betwixt Colchester and the Frozen North... ...or can we?
17. I'd be a bit dubious of a business that has to keep turning to eBegging (crowd funding etc...) to sustain itself.

Nux Pedals

Just ordered another 'Mod Core' for £25 off the 'bay. Buying from a UK seller this time, so at least if it goes 'mammaries rampant' like the last one then I've got a viable returns Option. Still a great piece of kit, and for the money it's easily the best Rotary simulator on the market.
19. Played some nice, big venues, but often for corporate arseholes with far more money than manners. I remember depping for a disco/funk band - nice guys, good money, tight band etc… all the ingredients for a run of great gigs, and they would have been but for the obnoxious property developers and 'new money and shouting about it' egotists.
20.
Could be the most affordable solution. Or... get The Bass Doc to do it for me. Trouble is, I'm not a fan of Jazz necks.
alright, do it to a 'P' the routing pattern will fit either…
21. Or just buy a decent jazz and upgrade it yourself with some GFS MMbuckers.
